For some reason whenever I see a hawk circling in the sky I'm totally enthralled. I think if reincarnation really happens, I'd love to come back as a hawk. Or maybe I was one in a past life.
Wagon Sr. recently found this webcam of a red tailed hawk nest on a light pole at his alma mater (Cornell), and the chicks are scheduled to hatch TODAY!!

I think they're pretty great, too. And I'm always surprised at how large they are when I catch one up close. But they can be mean little suckers. They're the reason we could never keep chickens or rabbits growing up. They will sit on the coop, stir up the chickens, then grab them and pull pieces out through the wire. But I guess it pays to be higher up on the food chain!

They are SO beautiful. Whenever I see a hawk when I'm driving, I crane my neck and practically drive off the road just to catch a longer glimpse. 
I used to see more when we lived up north. Not so many down here in NC.

@bree72: yes... the whole bird of prey thing kind of creeps me out too, especially since I have small dogs and I've had rabbits as pets! Haha. I like to picture them catching the mice that sometimes run across my attic...
I once watched a chicken hawk chase another small bird into our screen door. When the other bird got knocked out by the collision, the hawk hopped around, looking around, and eventually snatched up the bird and flew off. Disgusting and thrilling!!!

@mrs. wagon: Thanks and I did! I didn't think I could pull off the pink but it turned out great! Bonus - it was hiding in my closet with all of my other "stuff that doesn't fit right now" clothes.
