Bed bugs typicay bite along the neck, wrist and ankles. According to our school nurse, there is always a pattern and its typically a straight line. I think those look too big. I've had students have them and they weren't that large.

@PrincessBaby: Where have you inspected for the bed bugs? I know they can hide in the seams of fabric/mattresses but also outlets, or bedside items, etc. I would do a SUPER THOROUGH check on my own (not sure what else the orkin people will do) and if you find nothing, then maybe wait it out, adding a fan to her room if you can. I am also in the peace of mind camp about spending the $100 if you can't find anything and it keeps happening, but I'd want it to be a pay to check for ALL possible pests (like someone mentioned with those beetles, etc- so many RANDOM things) instead of just for bed bugs.

Omg poor girl! I would definitely pay the $100 for them to come out and check!!! Even if it doesnt turn out to be bed bugs, there is no way I could sleep in peace not knowing if bugs were crawling around in my daughters crib and biting her at night!

When I got bitten by bedbugs (in a hotel) they were in distinct little rows...they didn't look at all like mosquito bites. I'm inclined to think her bites are mosquito or some other bug?

she might be one of those kids who has really bad reactions to mosquito bites? But I'd have orkin come, I would ask them for an inspection - not just for bedbugs.

I don't think those look like bedbug bites from what I've read. I ha a little bedbug paranoia after a rash that appeared around the same time as a trip. (What I thought might have been an allergic reaction to bedbug bites in a hotel turned out to be poison ivy/oak/sumac.) but I'd pay to find out. Bites and rashes looks so similar it's hard to tell...

Ok all of you convinced me to just get orkin here and we are bedbug FREE!!! I really do feel tons better! I have no idea what kind of a bug beat up on her so bad but at least I know it wasn't a bedbug. I feel so bad for her though- her little face looks like she got in a fight with someone and the other person won:(

Thank you all for convincing me to just get the inspection!!!

I don't have any children, but I wanted to add, my mosquito bites look very similar to hers! I don't get the typical reaction to their bites (well, I do, mine are just 10 times worse!).

@Littlebit: DH gets massive welps from mosquitos so I'm guessing she inherited his increased sensitivity to mosquito bites! He HATES them and I'm sure you do too!

@PrincessBaby: Warm compresses will help. The heat draws it out. I am allergic too

Saw this and looks like you already checked for BB....
B and I both have that reaction to Mosquitos. While we moved, he was outside at dusk for 30 min and got approx 50 bites. I posted a pic on here. They looked similar.

Poor little H! I'm glad you checked it put for Bedbegs. I hope she is all healed up soon. REI sells mosquito netting for your bed that you can put over her crib if you think a little critter might have snuck in. They use them to prevent malaria in 3rd world counties and they work really well.

Well now I'm positive I have bed bugs thanks to this thread. Yuck. I've been getting bitten at night and one night I had three on my arm in a straight line. Gross. The others were my ankle and below my jaw. And LO has one bite on his cheek (he sleeps in a pnp at the foot of or bed). Efff!

Btw all of my bites were like mosquito bites, but with a harder kind of point. Lo's is smaller. I guess everyone reacts differently.

@Mrs Green Grass: I am actually immune to Bedbegs. My ex and I lived in a place that got them and he had welts all over but me nothing! So odd. If it makes you feel any better even the Queen can get bed bugs. Some of the fanciest hotels get bed bugs. It's not dirt they like its hot blood and surfaces. That's why they are such a nuisance.

I only read the first page, but bedbug bites happen in dependent areas of the body (places touching the mattress, so when I see them, it's usually on the back and upper legs. Scabies happen in folds and track in lines up the arms and in waistbands and arm folds. Fleas typically manifest on lower legs and on bellies of crawling babies. Mosquito bites cluster in exposed areas. Hope this helps.
