For the first time in like 7 months!
They are having a mother's day breakfast at daycare today - from 8-9....and daycare is 45 mins from work in rush hour. So, I couldn't stay (I also drop off T at 7:15...) When I dropped him off, I found out what a big deal the breakfast was and felt like T was going to be the only kid without a mommy there. It made me so sad! I'm sure he has no idea what's going on, though.

Awww.... I'm sure he has no idea.... and I'm sure you're not the only one. People have to work, that's why their LO's are in daycare. You'll be able to celebrate with your LO on the real mother's day

Our daycare has "muffins with mom" this morning, but my commute is 1.5 hours and I leave the house hours before E wakes up. I'm super bummed I couldn't go even though I know he won't know the difference. Don't feel bad for crying, days like this I'm really glad DH does drop off.

@winniebee: Yea, I totally don't understand why they do that. I mean, you take your kid to daycare because you have to work. I already have guilt leaving him there all day, please, pile on some more by hosting events I couldn't possibly attend.

I'm sorry you're sad. It's nice your daycare is doing something for the moms but yeah, that time is HARD. Also, if you send your child to daycare, you probably work so....they expect everyone to take time off to do this!

I hate to make it sound like I'm ungrateful that our daycare is thoughtful. I guess I just wish I knew that it was such a big deal BEFORE I dropped him off today. I could have tried to finagle my schedule a little. Oh well.

Awww, I get it. I've never been able to attend any of these special events either. But I would think most people can't stay either because they work and that's why their kids are in daycare!

@winniebee: Don't worry! There will be plenty more Mother's Day teas, breakfast, brunch, etc. at pre-school and elementary that you and T will enjoy!! Plus he will be old enough to remember it

I'm sure he wasn't the only one whose real mama wasn't there with him! He can celebrate with his "daycare mama" instead

I'm sorry.. I have to miss B's mothers day event today because I have a meeting. All the teachers were asking if I could come and I had to say no. I felt like such a bad mom. I feel your pain.

Awww, that's sad. But why would they plan that? Like others have said, you bring him because you have to work. But, T won't know the difference:)
