A little background...
Prior to DD, I loved my MIL - we got along SO well. But since DD was born, my MIL has acted like I don't exist. If she came over or we visited her, she would immediately take DD out of my arms, without asking and without even saying hi to me. She would always find a way to say how much DD looks like DH, usually by me bringing out baby pictures of DH and pointing out "how similar they are!" (never once mentioning that she *might* have my features).

At first it really bothered me, but after about 8 months, I just brushed it off. DH saw her doing it and has told me he will talk to her, but, after a year he never did, so I gave up on him going through with it.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago. DH and I were going to a surprise party for my BIL. We took the opportunity to make a mini-date night out of it and had a snack and a few drinks prior to meeting everyone at the restaurant for the party. By the time the party started, the drinks hit me harder than I expected.

We say hi to everyone, and when I get to my MIL, lo and behold, she has even more baby pictures of DH that she wants to show me "because they look just like W". Apparently, in my drunken state, I decided it was a good opportunity to mention to her that,
"although I'm over it now and it's totally not a big deal... but since DD was born, it really has hurt my feelings that you never say that she looks or acts like me. I mean, being a first time mom, and after carrying the baby for 9 months, you want to know that the beautiful little baby might have some resemblance to you, right?. I do see that she definitely looks a lot like DH in these pictures, but I just wanted to let you know how it makes me feel whenever you keep bringing them to me."

um yeah... I said it...

Oh, and little did I know that DH finally got around to talking to her that same night **10 min before I did** !!!!!

It totally wasn't planned, but she probably thinks we were ganging up on her. So, every time I see her now, she always says something about how DD looks like me. LOL Really?
