My LO (almost 15 months) makes diaper changes so difficult. She loves to flip, scream, wrestle and toys don't distract her....she only wants to suck on wipes or play with diaper cream.
How are diaper changes going for you?

She's recently discovered her lady bits, so it's problematic when I'm trying to change a poopy diaper.

Same! it's 50/50 chance he'll lie still or flip around and whine

Pretty annoying most of the time, but I think they will get worse (she is almost 1 year). Sometimes she is easily distracted with a book or toy or random piece of clothing I give her. Sometimes she just wants to put her hands in her diaper region-- which is especially bad during a dirty diaper change.

50/50. Some times a book or her shoe will keep her entertained. But then this morning, she wouldn't sit still at all. And that is always when it is a poopy one!

He's gotten way better over the past month or 2. No more screaming or flipping for the most part! Now he just lays there touching his penis, which is pretty awesome (insert sarcastic tone here).

She's always disagreeing with me and runs away. I can smell her poopy diaper from across the room and she still insists she hasn't pooped! Then when I finally get her on the changing pad, she hates the diaper I picked out (they're the same thing just different colors on the front)! Then after she's changed, she insists on picking up the diaper from on top of the changing table and throwing it herself. If I help by handing her the diaper, she cries and puts it back on top of the friggen table, just so she can go on her tippy toes to get it and throw it herself. Two year olds are exhausting!

@petunia354: hahahaha!
They're terrible over here too. He always rolls over and crawls away or sits up. We've tried putting them on while standing, but that's hard! Toys are no longer a distraction too. It might hold his attention long enough for you to take off the diaper and MAYBE wipe his butt, but that's it.

We do diaper changes standing up, using Huggies Slip-Ons. It's been amazing. My LO is also 15m.

Ours are exactly like yours - lots of yelling, flipping over, kicking, getting onto hands and knees. It's tough holding him down and trying to put a diaper on at the same time!
If he's not doing all of that he's got his hands all over his junk and gets upset if I try and move his hand to close the diaper..boys!

@Applesandbananas: My LO is delayed so she doesn't stand yet but I will keep that in mind for the future! Are they the same price as regular Huggies?
@SugarplumsMom: Sounds fun...not!

@autumnlove: I'm not sure how much regular huggies are, I got a great deal through diapers.com, it was like $0.22/diaper!
Sometimes LO refuses to stand and I still find it easier to wiggle the slip-on up that to keep him pinned down for a regular diaper change! I even, after getting him wiped well, kind of hold him and pull the diaper on.
I hope you find a solution soon, diaper change struggles suck!

LO is 15 months and ours are nightmarish too. He will literally run the other direction when he sees me coming towards him for a diaper change. DH says it's like trying to wrestle a rattlesnake! Sometimes I can distract him with a book while I change him standing up.

I can't even use our changing pad on the dresser anymore because my 8-month-old will just try to dive off. If I can keep him on it long enough to wipe poop off his butt, that's a success to me. Then I put him down and try to pin him to get the diaper back on.

She arches and flips over 75% of the time. It's a wrestling match.

I hate changing my 22 month old. I need to finish potty training him but we're traveling so much, I'm being selfish.

She thinks she knows how to put on her own diaper so she is constantly trying to grab it from me and take over.....

Hate changing poop diapers. My 21 mo. old son kicks and thrashes at times, even while holding his toys. Ugh!

When my son was that age we did most of his diaper changes standing up.
@sugarplumsmom: My son always says no when I asked him if he's pooped. I'm hoping he'll get the idea soon so we can think about potty training.

Kicking, flipping over even when I'm holding his two feet in my hands,.. DS will try anything and everything! With a poopy diaper, I just put him in the bathtub and rinse with the shower head.

my 6 week old prefers to pee with his diaper off, he unloaded twice during the last change. honestly i have no idea how he can hold that much volume in his tiny body! on the bright side he didn't pee in his own face - or anyone elses!
