last night i remarked to SO how incredible it is that my iphone is 2 years old and i don't use a case with it.... cue sound of it crashing to the floor today (which has happened a million times before) and the screen finally shattering

do you think putting tape over it to keep the glass from falling out would make the touch screen not work? i can't fix it today & have a super busy wk end, gah, terrible timing!
