Help! I am new to this TTC fun and I'm experiencing some major symptom spotting and general craziness! Seriously...I'm only 5 DPO and just POAS. Crazy, right?!
So...any of you lovelies have any tips to help get my mind off of things until 1/10?

Oooh I wish I had some suggestions, but I'm consistently a total nervous wreck during the TWW (just starting mine too!). Hope you get some good news next week!

Haha thanks @mango.sprays! It's at least nice to know I'm not the only one who gets a little nutty Pinterest-ing anything and everything baby-related probably does not help!

And good luck to you, too! I will think lots of sticky baby thoughts for you

@MamaMagpie: This TWW is really dragging on for me this time since it's my first IUI. The holidays didn't help. I am in dire need of things to do before we find out on the 7th if it worked. Hang in there!

@MamaMagpie: Ugh the TWW is the worst. The best advice I've got is to try as hard as you can to not think about it. Easier said than done, I know. I acted as if I wasn't pregnant, instead of thinking "what if", so I couldn't be disappointed. Of course, it still crossed my mind. Try and keep busy, plan things to look forward to so your not sitting at home thinking too much.

@mango.sprays I saw your update on the January POAS and I think we are potential date twins. I on 2 dpo (ovualted new year's eve)!
Anyways, I already want to test so I am no help. I am going to try to at least wait until 8 dpo

Sorry - no help here! I was a nightmare during my TWWs - it drove me crazy!

This is my first TWW but don't know when to test since I don't know when to expect my period! (Just went off BC).

Oh goodness, @LindsayinNYC! That would really drive me crazy! I'm sure things will start normalize soon, though!
The only thing I've found to help keep my mind off things is trying to look forward to the day, in the same way I would look forward to a fun event or date with DH, instead of agonizing over how few DPO I am! Also, catching up on episodes of Downton Abbey before the start of the new season on Sunday

@MamaMagpie - I've been driving myself crazing over every body "symptom" lately! *slight cramp* Ooh, am I ovulating?! *slight whatever* Ooh, maybe this is ovulating? LOL. I've been on BC for 12 years so it's weird to be off of it!

I'm in same crazy boat cause I POAS at 5 DPO last month! i think its hard to just not think about, as much as we wish we could. I stepped back from checking these boards so frequently and it helped a lot! But I'm not in TWW for jan yet tho, so I'm sure I'll be doing some serious symptom starting soon.

I'm at the end of my TWW right now, and honestly the best cure was staying busy (easier said than done!). On the days I had nothing to do I was just symptom spotting, Googling, driving myself nuts, etc.

Stay out of the house and away from electronics Go exercise to help clear your brain, get neck-deep in a new project around the house or at work. Time will fly by

@MrsClownfish: Yes! I'm pretty sure I ovulated yesterday (new years day) so we're almost exactly at the same spot. Yay for TWW buddies!!

@lindsayinnyc: about 12dpo is a very safe time to test. If you haven't gotten your period by then you should go ahead. However many girls on here get BFPs earlier than that.

@Marionberry - I was regular pre-BC (aka teenage years) so I'm anticipating my cycle will regulate out on it's own. If I have a 28 day cycle, I should have my period on 1/7. I figure I'll give myself a week beyond that since I just went off BC after December's period before testing? Assuming I can wait of course

@LindsayInNYC: I was regular pre-BC too but coming off of it I certainly was not. My first month was normal (28 days) but I think the hormone was still in my system. The cycles after that went 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 days. Now I average about 25-27. Not saying that you should expect that, just warning that pre-BC normal doesn't always mean going straight back to a normal cycle once you're off it.

@MarionBerry - Part of the reason I think that is that I took my BC continuously (no break/period) but after 6 weeks or so, I would start spotting. As though my body wanted a period anyways. It's almost like it overrode the BC? If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been TTC? Were you off BC beforehand?
pomelo / 5041 posts
@LindsayInNYC: Well perhaps that's a good sign for you! I've been TTC for 10 cycles now. I got off BC and started trying that month. Most women though (with no problems with them or their DH) usually get pregnant in the first few months off of BC. So don't worry that you'll end up like me, lol.
