How about Boston tea party or Paul Revere stuff? Or you could get/make street signs with famous Boston streets/neighborhoods? Haha, I'm from the Boston area but I'm bad with ideas!

Some Bean town folks mentioned Boston's Baked Beans are famous. What about figuring out all of the must-see sight seeing places and work them into a gigantic back drop. Your friends can take pics in front of it almost like that was the party skyline. You ciyld even throw in famous Bostonians likebmy husband in my head, Matt Damon.

@rahlyrah: yay! One step further one of the photo props could say "wish you were here". He he! Two steps further once you have the skyline in place you could have a smaller mock up that could be labeled with numbers identifying the landmarks for folks.

you could do celtics stuff- you get irish colors & you don't have to put up red sox stuff. boston cream pie for dessert. maybe add a big citgo sign in with the street signs. have lots of beads for everyone, maybe a photo station with lots of st patrick's day items- hats, glasses, boas, beads, face paint, temporary tattoos. irish car bombs could be the drink of the evening. serve chowder or corned beef & cabbage, guinness chocolate cake/cupcakes, green beer (always grossed me out, but at every st patty's party i've been to), festive jello shots, irish soda bread.

Good ideas already, but if you are going to Boston/St. Patrick's theme, you should definitely work the Dropkick Murphy's into the soundtrack-- i can't hear them without thinking of Boston and the parade in South Boston. I like the idea of blow ups of famous landmarks, like the Citgo sign.

St. Patrick's day parties around here focus on the parade (aka drunk fest for many), Irish music and Dropkick Murphies, and lots of beer. Or, at least with my friends it does

I'm from Boston and I think the Boston theme is actually pretty tricky! I love the backdrop idea. You could also add signs from stops along the MBTA (like Harvard, Park St, Copley, etc).

Only other thing I can think of is to serve Dunkin Donuts and coffee. Everyone here is obsessed with that stuff. Personally, I would skip the baked beans!

Get some Boston beer - like Sam Adams Boston Lager. Do it up with a New England meal like clam chowdah. I agree with DKM music, totally sets the mood.
