Ha ha ha. We gave up cable a while ago and swore we would never go back. Now with my maternity leave coming up, I asked my husband if we could look into the cost. I can't believe it but we're seriously considering it. Okay, it might have come up when we found out NASCAR on FOX is over and it's moving to TNT for the rest of the season....(just because you like NASCAR doesn't mean you're a redneck)!!

Haha, that's awesome! We don't have a tv hooked up to watch any tv, just movies. We've said once I get pregnant, we may get the Internet at home again, just because I expect to become tired & stay home more at that point.

We have it up a while ago, a little over a year. We don't miss it. We have internet through our neighbors, so we have netflix and huluplus. Our building also has an antenna on it so we do get basic cable (abc, nbc, cbs, fox, lots of differnet pbs channels, ion, and a couple random music video channels). We just can't justify the cost since we can watch most of what we want for much cheaper!

@MamaMoose: @Andrea: So, when I first moved to North Carolina (literally like 2 months after moving here) I won a contest through a radio station to try to win tickets to a NASCAR race. The contest was you had to show up at this amusement park and race go-carts. The winner won two tickets to the race. I beat out all of these other guys and girls and won two tickets. A friend I had just met went with me to the race (she was a NASCAR fan) and showed me the ropes. Now that I have been to one in person, I'm addicted. I've only been to three races in my life but I had so much fun at all three of them!
I am not a fan of the creepy rednecks or the crowd of 10 people who, together have less teeth than I do in my mouth...but I definitely enjoy the race itself.

We couldn't live without cable. I think it's a great idea for your maternity leave. When LO was a newborn she would only sleep in my arms, so I would sit on the couch and watch tv for hours.

When I started maternity leave DH and I were trying to come up with cost cutting measures and he suggested getting rid of cable. I don't think I could live without it, I have the TV on in the background all day long while I clean and cook and play with Prettybaby

We don't because we rarely watch TV and I couldn't justifying paying that much money for 30 minutes of TV time a day. We have Netflix instead, and it's working out nicely. If there's something we want to watch and it isn't on Netflix, we'll stream it on our iPad.

We went for about 3 years without cable and then last year broke down and got it for footbal season. I refused to miss games if we couldn't find them online.
ETA: I think I became a small claims expert because that was the only thing on during the day. I would turn it on a listen when I did laundry.

I didn't until years ago when DH first moved in with me. We had to get it as a condition of him moving in so he could have all the 24/7 news channels. He is addicted to news.

I could never live without cable. we have Netflix and Hulu but it really doesn't make up the difference for us, so we remain cable customers forever hahaha.

Ugghhhh, we have it and I wish we could get rid of it. I don't think I have turned on the TV to watch an actual show (OK, except maybe a few minutes of a Bravo show a few times!) in over a year. I just can't seem to sit still long enough. My better half, however, cannot fathom the idea of not only not having cable, but the movie channels as well. I am trying to convince him that when the baby arrives, we might want to ditch it for a bit. This might be an uphill battle...

nope, we don't have it. Mostly for cost reasons - we have way better things to spend our money on, and couldn't really afford it anyway. We got a gym membership instead 
We have netflix, which streams through our wii and got a free 2-week hulu trial when baby was born and that was just enough for me.

Yes we have satellite, we love it I don't think I could live without it. DH probably could if we got an antenna and got all the basic channels. I would be watching a lot of TV on the computer for sure!

We just got rid of our cable, lol! The bill kept rising to the point of us paying $200/month for only one TV so we finally just dropped it. I can't see us going back - we use an HD digital antenna and it works great. Although for my future maternity leave it would be nice to DVR shows that come on at night and watch them during the day when I'm bored.

We could live without cable, but seeing as how LO is constantly feeding and I am pumping, it is sure nice to have!
