I enjoy reading about and researching natural childbirth. I've watched quite a few documentaries, but I was not a big fan of Orgasmic Birth. I do agree that birth can be a natural process... but sexual? That seems far fetched to me. I've never given birth though so I have nothing to base my opinion on. Has anyone else seen this documentary? What did you think?

I haven't but now I want to! Is it on Netflix? I also don't buy that.... I had an epidural so I didn't have the natural birth experience. But I'm pretty sure it would just be painful.

Haven't heard of it but can't see what's orgasmic about it except for masochists.

My midwife has had mom's where they took this approach.
She said that alot of the labor was just momma & hubby & they would bring mom to orgasm with toys & such.
The release of oxytocin from the orgasm kept her in a real "dreamlike" and almost high state AND since there was more oxytocin the contractions were more effective.
She said it really works... a more effective & faster labor and mom is in alot less pain b/c of all the feel good endorphins from the orgasm.
Not sure that I could go this route though... not this time anyways. lol

I don't think I could be thinking about anything sexual while in labor... I guess different things works for different people *shrugs*

Sexual, yes. It's kind of the definitive act of femininity. Erotic? Not a chance. I do believe that birth does not have to be nearly as painful most people think, but orgasmic? Ewwwwww.
