If you had to pick one, which would you choose? if I had to choose between Dairy Queen (for soft serve) or Baskin Robbins (for ice cream) I would choose DQ... just a simple swirled cone makes me happy! I would also settle for a McDs or BK soft serve!

My sisters and I owned an ice cream parlour throughout university so I consider myself somewhat of an expert ;). I love both kinds but when it comes down to it....I'd have to say soft serve with hot fudge takes the cake.

Judging without any extras, ice cream. Preferably chocolate with peanut butter or mint chip. With toppings, soft serve. Peanut butter sauce, hot fudge, mmmmmm.

@sweetchic: It was! It paid our way through college and was totally a fun way to spend the summers. It's right on the ocean so you can't beat the view. My younger sisters still run it but I've retired my scoop (though I might sneak in for an ice-cream now and then still !)

@blackbird: Yum. When I was little my mom used to take me to a special soft serve custard place. It was way out in some random suburb far from where we lived, but it was a special thing we did together. I still dream about it, that stuff was so so good.
For me, soft serve all the way. I don't know what it is, but that stuff is really freaking tasty and I could eat it by the bucketful.
