I know this isn't baby-related, but I know several of you ladies are familiar with military life - my brother is currently on a Navy ship and doesn't have much space. I'm trying to think of good Xmas gift ideas that aren't perishable and don't take up a lot of space. Any ideas?? I feel like I'm striking a blank.

I think if he's short on space, a food gift would be good since once he eats it, it isn't taking up space anymore. Maybe a meat/cheese/cracker collection? Does he like beef jerky?
Or maybe a nice, engraved pocket knife/swiss army knife?

What's your limit? When my sister was deployed a few years ago, all of us (sisters, parents, grandparents, etc...) chipped in and bought her a really nice laptop. She used it a lot to Skype with us. That's expensive, but tablets are getting cheaper these days, and might be nice for reading/surfing the internet.
For cheaper gifts, books, magazines, and puzzle books (crosswords, word searches, etc...) are always popular, to help kill the time (since it's like they can GO anywhere in their off-time).
