Is the pee actually damaging the lawn? Some dog's pee doesn't seem to kill grass (my pup's doesn't, but my SIL's dog's does).

If it wasn't actually hurting the grass I wouldn't care at all. If it is hurting your grass or bothers you, ask the neighbour to please keep his pet of your yard.

That said, when I walk my dog I don't stop him from peeing on the edge of someone's yard (I try to keep him from going far up on their grass though).

I let my dog pee wherever but I always pick up #2. I don't think you can really control a dog peeing on your yard unless you put up a fence and "no trespassing" signs.

@locavore_mama: Where does your dog pee then? Do you have common area that is for dogs? I never thought about not letting my dog pee on someones yard.

@HLK208: It must be very high quality grass, it sounds like this dog is a conneisour.

In your situation I'd be annoyed for sure.

Our neighbors yard isn't fenced and their two dogs roam free and pee on our side lawn all the time. We havent had lawn issues with it, but if we did, I'd def make my dh say something!

That wouldn't bother me. I think because I am a dog owner and I know that sometimes it can be really hard to pull your dog away from a spot once they decide they have to go. I try really hard to start walking faster by people's lawns when I know my dog is getting ready to go, so that he won't go in their yard, but I am not always sucessful. Like others have said, I always clean up #2, but #1 can be really difficult.

We have this issue, in fact, the people across the street walk their dog across my front lawn(we have a corner lot).

It's not the peeing, it's the tresspassing that I have an issue with. I don't set my son's play kitchen up on their front lawn, so don't walk across mine.

It doesn't bother me. I walk my dog and she pees on other people's yards. I try to keep her on the edge of the lawn because I know how annoying it is when someone else's dog is practically peeing/pooping on the front porch. What bothers me is when people don't pick up #2. I always have a bag with me, and if the bag rips I come back with another one once my dog is inside.

I can see why you're annoyed. I would be too, but what can you do? I guess you could confront and ask them to stop. I personally wouldn't want to confront them. When we walk our dog, I just let her pee where ever, but always pick up her #2. We bought this lawn fertilizer that works really well to neutralize the urine and keep it green.

And oh I try to keep her on the side of the easement so that if she ends up peeing or pooping on someone else's property it's at least on the sidewalk patch and not their front lawn.

@HLK208: my dog has really acidic pee and kills our grass. Lime should work but will take a few years.

It doesn't bother me. We live on a corner lot and people with dogs walk by all the time. If they pooped and the owner didn't pick it up I would be mad.

My dogs use the backyard where we have a fence so it doesn't bother them either.

I hate when they leave their poop or let their dog poop on our sidewalk!!! Yes, that has happened. Twice.

I don't care about dogs peeing, but I do get annoyed when people let their dogs go poo in our yard and don't clean it up.

Unless you have huge dead spots from the dog constantly peeing on your grass, I think it's absurd to get mad at them. Poop, yes. But pee- no way. My dogs would never pee on gravel (nor walk on it) and if someone asked me not to have my dogs pee on their lawn I'd probably laugh. There is just so much stuff on/in the grass around here a little pee isn't hurting them. Granted, I try to keep my dogs on the grass between the street/sidewalk and not on peoples' actual LAWNS out of respect. The bigger issue might just be this dog being off-leash.

We live in the middle of the city, and the number of dogs who pee in front of our building on a given day is 20+. I don't think this would bother me, except if the dog wasn't on a leash and went wandering into the yard. Granted, we don't own, but I'm not sure how you ladies control when your dogs pee. Ours goes at least three times per walk, and while I try to get her to go on the sidewalk grass and keep her out of flower beds, sometimes she just starts before I can move her.

Either way, I hope your grass grows back soon!

@LovelyPlum: Oh way more than 3 times, but our chihuahua just likes lifting his leg, I don't think pee acually comes out. He just makes a big deal out of peeing on hydrants.

There are tons of dogs in our neighborhood.... so peeing in people's yards is the norm. I didn't know it wouldn't be ok.
