@Happygal: Don't fret, 36 is fine! I'm pretty sure mine would've been pretty low this pregnancy had I gone in for a beta, since I got a late (13dpo). And the nurse should know better
When are you going in for your next beta?

@Sunshine1810: I think it's more common than we would all hope! Thankfully, the nurses at our current clinic are pretty nice. They called me back, so we're schedule for tomorrow. Yay! I'm just really trying not to get my hopes up. After 3.5 years, and getting our hopes up and then being disappointed more times than I'd like to remember, I'm hoping we can just be open to either possibility and trusting that God has a plan for us no matter what.

@mrs. bird: I have a ridiculous phobia of needles with blood tests being the absolute worst. I just can't seem to get myself to go... even with Ativan I couldn't do it.
@MrsMcD: haha omg I said lunch! I meant lung, I was probably thinking about lunch

@Mrs. Pinata: So glad that you got scheduled! I'm glad at least you have nice nurses! Good luck to you!

@alohaorchid: I am not sure if this would help or if your doctor would offer it but have you ever tried a prescription cream called Emla? My sister has had an artificial heart valve since she was 18 mos. old and has always been on a blood thinner, which meant constant blood tests. When she was younger, she really had a hard time with them so the doctor prescribed this Emla cream to numb the area before bringing her in for blood tests. It really helped, she didn't feel them at all. I am not sure if your issue with needles is more related to the pain or just the idea of it, but this would certainly help with the pain.

@alohaorchid: Oh gees! A lung infection. That's no joke! I hope it clears up soon. So sorry.
persimmon / 1404 posts
@Sunshine1810: I could ask him about it! I have never really thought of the pain of getting one, it's more just the thought of it. I haven't had a blood test in almost 10 years...

@alohaorchid: Yes, what is a "lunch infection?" I'm sorry you're having a rough day. Did I misunderstand--you said you won't get the bloodwork done? *EDIT* You just answered all my questions! Disregard I'm happy you have a plan, post-blood draw!
@bhbee: @Sunshine1810: Thanks ladies! (And everyone else who's fingers are crossed )
@Happygal: Thinking of you! It is early; praying those numbers double up! After my first beta I couldn't get enough of looking up other peoples numbers!
@lazypanda: It's early for you too! Praying for those numbers! DH will be going to a base in San Diego (3hrs away). He may or may not have weekends free while they get ready, or once he leaves on the 3rd I may not see him until they return.
@MrsMcD: No anesthesiologist for me either. My RE told me to take 800mg of Advil 30min before and that was it. Good luck with your bd'ing!!
@mrs. bird: Hahaha I'd be impatient too! I'm happy that a job is definitely on the table though!

@alohaorchid: Maybe if the pain aspect was gone it might help a little? Just a suggestion! I'm sorry it causes so much anxiety for you! I have things that do the same for me as well!
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
For those girls afraid of needles, I'm totally the same way. When I had to do little stomach shots for a few weeks, I had DH help me initially. The first night, we literally ran around our house screaming like little girls. Neither of us could settle down to just do it. I numbed my skin with about 10 ice cubes, squeezed my skin together and DH stabbed me with the little needle. Believe it or not, I couldn't feel a damn thing. I was totally numb!
After a few nights, he went out of town and I had to do it myself. It wasn't a big deal. I totally got used to it. Not that its a pleasant deal, but it truly isn't a big deal.
However, intramuscular back of hip shots - good luck girls! Those are a bitch!

@Kelli_Deluxe: haha I can't believe I typed lunch, I meant lung. I do really love lunch though! I have a really bad phobia of needles (especially blood tests) and can't bring myself to get the bloodwork done.
@Sunshine1810: Anxiety sucks doesn't it? I think that's a great suggestion and I'm going to talk to the nurse about it.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@alohaorchid: I totally understand your fear of blood tests! With me, it wasn't about the pain of the needle, I think it was more the thought of them taking my blood out of my body, where it didn't belong (maybe? haha, it sounds ridiculous). I used to faint or nearly faint every single year when I got my blood drawn at my PCP, and I'd do whatever I could to even avoid that one blood draw. The only thing that worked for me (a little) was distraction - finding someone who could talk to me about random stuff while it was happening. That and my own sad version of exposure therapy in the form of a year + of IF treatments.
ETA: I saw this thing on Shark Tank (http://buzzy4shots.com/index.php) and I seriously wanted to buy one and bring it with me to the RE. I probably would have if it weren't $40! LOL
persimmon / 1404 posts
@MrsMcD: For me, it's more mental than anything. It just creeps me out to think that metal is going into my skin and "doing something", even moreso with blood tests because it's taking something out. And the way your veins have to stick out for it? Makes me want to throw up and pass out all at the same time.
It doesn't help that I had a REALLY bad experience with a blood test when I was a kid. I wasn't scared of them until then.. I got it done, passed out and went into some kind of shock (it was a fasting test and it was all related). It was pretty terrifying.
pear / 1556 posts
@alohaorchid: It does. I am a really anxious person in general, it drives DH crazy sometimes! Good luck!
persimmon / 1404 posts
@Shutterbug: That's exactly it!! And kind of what I just posted at the exact same time that you wrote that post It definitely feels like it's wrong for it to be there... I've done all that I can with urine, saliva and ultrasounds and all that I need to do now is the blood test. My husband said he will come with me and my MIL has also offered (with a bottle of wine to celebrate after) so I know I have the support... I just can't bring myself to do it.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@alohaorchid: Ohhh... blood tests. Not the other kind of shots. Got it. And yes... blood tests totally gross me out, too. But at some point you just have to do it for your health. I get annual blood work done just to check iron, vitamin d, cholesterol and stuff. I remember the first time I went without my mom. I was well into my 20s and already graduated from law school. I still hate it but still do it. What's the other option?
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@alohaorchid: gah, I just wrote a big response and it disappeared! For me, warning the blood person about my fears, asking if I can lay down for it, and drinking LOTS of water beforehand helped the most, because if they knew I was scared they'd send their pro over (not the newbie, haha) and if I was hydrated, it would be easier for them to get it done quickly.

@bhbee: Your move came so fast! I'm sure it's super nervewracking waiting for your ultrasound! FX for you that all looks great!
@mrs bunchy: YAY hot showers! I feel you on the not believing this is our life, it sucks so much, but I have to believe it makes us a little more grateful for what we have.
@mrs. bird: Good luck with your surgery, I hope it goes smoothly for you! I feel the same way about IVF, terrified of the needles, but the nice part is the increased chance and the ability to "plan" your pregnancy (sort of).
@Kelli_Deluxe: I hope someone cancels so you can get in before your DH leaves!
@Jenn23: Boo for having to wait for the IVF!
@alohaorchid: Sorry about your infection! I hope you feel better soon.

@Jenn23: I'm 17 days post trigger, 15 days post IUI so my number is pretty low. But I'm going to stay positive about this and will my little embryo to dig deep and grow! By the way, having a baby sounds like a wonderful anniversary gift!
@bhbee: I'll go in tomorrow after work for my betas and get results over the weekend I guess. I'm trying to stay positive and hopeful, I did just finish my last jar of pickles! How are your symptoms?
@MrsMcD: yay for not having to worry about your DH's SA!
@Kelli_Deluxe: is it Pendleton? Is it possible for him to ask for that one day off so he can be there for the first u/s? Do you feel comfortable enough to let the clinic know of your DH's deployment? I feel like that's something that should warrant some schedule squeezing on the clinic's part.
@Leialou: oh wow, the things we do for TTC! I hope this is the one and only cycle you have to do this, and its just one more week of it!
@HappyGal: I called my clinic after work today and the nurse, not the regular one I speak with answered and said that my number was low. She said that for being 4 weeks today, they usually would like to see higher doubles, even something closer to higher 30s. So, I reframed it and basically told her, if my level 12 says I'm pregnant today, then I will remain positive and say I am pregnant. I don't have control over how much "more pregnant" I can get, so for today, I am pregnant, just as you are pregnant! Happy thoughts for @HappyGal.
@Mrs. Piñata: so glad they were able to get back to you! Good luck on your IUI!
@FaithFertility: Yay for graduating! Your positives are so awesome!
My 3 positives:
1. My FRER are getting darker each day, Wondfo is starting to darken, OPKs are coming back with color! <--yes I have been excessively POAS-ing.
2. So much positivity on this thread!
3. It's my anniversary weekend and we get to celebrate the fact that I am pregnant!

@alohaorchid: That's a rough deal...but I guess it's pretty common? Since you had a really traumatic experience, maybe cognitive behavioral therapy or some guided imagery could help... I hope you do get the blood tests drawn, since that may give you a better idea of your condition and will help guide next steps.
@lazypanda: Fingers are still crossed for you, lady!

@septca: welcome!
@lindsayinny: so glad you can move on from what doesn't sound like a good fit. Will they do goodbye stuff for you today? My last place made everyone sign a card and eat cake. Sometimes it was nice, sometimes it felt forced. Great news about you husband's test results!!! How are you doing in the TWW?
@purplepumps: 4.5 is a long time! Where has he been? How's your cycle been going?
@MrsTal: yeah! I'm glad you made it in on time. Fingers crossed for $$ your way.
@lazypanda: how are you feeling? When do you head to the doctor again?
@doxielove: Congrats on your certification! And EWCM is a good thing! When do you usually ovulate?
@mrs.someone: thank you! I actually was thinking of you at 6 in the morning yesterday as I was rooting around underneath my bathroom sink looking for the FRER you sent my way.
@Snowdrop: fingers crossed for you! That's cool that you're dying wool--what will you make with it?
@greenthumb: ah, the waiting/antcipation--the one thing you can really count on with infertility! Glad to see you here and that things are moving forward!
@shutterbug: You deserved that perfect Mexico vacation. How did you pick out your new RE? Will the plan be different? What kind of stress relief tactics are you going to use?
@sunshine1810: Oh my goodness, I have a spacey RE nurse, too! She kept telling me, "It's all on that sheet of paper," as she got distracted during our injection tutorial. I'm excited for you to get going as well! Glad you had what sounds like a perfect day yesterday.
@leaialou: thank you! I told the little one to grow this morning and asked how it's doing. How are you feeling about things this go-round? I know you were really trying to focus on being positive.
@BhBee: I'm seriously touched that my BFP is your positive! You are going through some big changes right now in your life. How is packing going? (I hate moving!) Praying for all positive things from your ultrasound next week.
@mrs bunchy: Hi! I'm so sorry about IF coverage. I hate that it's something that has to even be discussed. What nice parents to hang out and wait for the plumber, and really nice that you're going to have a hot shower now! Enjoy the weekend with you husband.

@kelli_deluxe: June 3 is soon! Oh, I hope they'll find an earlier date for you and your husband for an ultrasound! Glad you got approved via inspection to transfer housing.
@Jenn23: happy to see you, but oh no, why is the lab shut down? Ack! So frustrating! Are you east coast, west coast?
@alohaorchid: your avatar always makes me smile. So do you just have to tough the infection out? That sounds miserable! I'm sorry. Would your DH be okay with doing the blood work?
@lazypanda: are you testing every day? I'm kind of tempted to test again, but think I'll hold off this morning. Praying for quick-rising beta #s for you! How are you feeling?
@lovelyplum: thank you saw you posted your birth story, so I'm going to hop over there and read all about it!
@MrsMCD: That's great that you OB could put your mind at ease, and that you have a good relationship. Having a good doctor on your side makes all the difference. Hope you're enjoying that BD storm. Oh, my HSG involved a nurse, my RE, and a radiologist. Think that's it.
@leaialou: oh, friend, I feel you on the adhesive reaction. That was honestly one of the toughest parts of recovery from my lap! I had large welts--some that were sore, some that were really sticky. Ouch.
@Mrs. Pinata: it's hard to keep up with this group sometimes! I love this group though, sooooo much. I'm sorry you have a bratty RE desk clerk. They're like the gate keepers, and you don't need to deal with rudeness with everything else that is going on. One of my office's desk clerk is an angel who always has a big smile and is super professional--they other one is a bit cool.
Did you get some more sleep last night?
@Septca: I was 13 dpo yesterday. Thanks for sharing your 7 #--I told my husband that, and it helped him to feel better. Can't believe your nurse said that!
@Mrs.Someone: (again ) I'll go in on Monday. I kind of wanted to go on Saturday, but I figured it could be good to try not to obsess over #s this weekend.
@MrsMCD: what did you have to do shots for? The image of you and your husband running around screaming is a funny one.

@Happygal: that was an amazing reply effort! For the betas - there are so many people who have started lower than 36 and been just fine! But I think 36 is special. That was my first beta for my two year old. What's weird is that was also a Thursday and I didn't go back until Monday. By then you should have a nice solid sounding number!! @Happygal: I'm feeling a bit anxious. Good for you for the decision to not obsess over #s for the weekend. My RE nurse wants me to go in for beta #2 today because they would like to see it increase. However, since I can't get lab work done until after work, I won't know until Monday morning from my RE nurses, unless I call the advice nurse line for the hospital. I have been testing daily but I may skip out on doing so this weekend. I vacillate between feeling optimistic & pessimistic about whether or not this will stick.
@septca: I am holding onto hope knowing that you started at a 7 for your LO. ETA: darn, just saw the dates of your betas.

@lazypanda: Honey, I know how hard this is. Last month, when I had my CP, everyone on here and my doctor was pushing me to go in for a beta. But I just couldn't do it... the stress of my low numbers and having to wait for results was just too much last time. I really don't ever want to go through the beta thing again. Since I have to get an early u/s with every pregnancy anyway (high risk of EP), I would rather just wait for that.

::tip-toeing back in, what I hope is inconspicuously... ::
Well hi.
I dunno why I feel like now is a good time to "re-appear." Maybe I'm just bored. I do miss you ladies though! This thread seems overwhelming already, and it only went up yesterday! I hope to read through it all and catch up.
A quick update.
Um...nothing to update. I think we're on cycle 3 after the "de-polyping." So, that brings us to 2 1/2 years all together. Awesome. According to FF, I'm 4 dpo. We did EOD this cycle, starting on CD 8. (Much easier, and less stressful then ED!)
Um, let's see...something positive from this week? Oh! I finally nailed down an appointment with a tattoo artist here to chat about getting some new ink We'd been playing phone tag forever, and with both of our busy schedules, we finally set a meeting for next week. Now I just hope I don't get sticker shock when he tells me a price, because I've heard it's really expensive here!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: I see you!!! Do you have a WTF appt planned with your OB/RE? Good luck to you! What sort of tattoo are you considering (location, size, etc)?
@LindsayInNY: "Defensive pessimism" (then ever-so-slightly giddy hope) is where I've been for months now... This was Clomid cycle #1, or no? If this month isn't the one, maybe your IUI month will make all the difference! And it's not over yet...

Sorry if I missed anyone/anything! Hi to all the "new" people that I don't know. I'm gonna try to be more of a regular again, but we'll see! Sometimes HB depresses me, for real! I'll have to hide like 90 percent of the threads Anywho... xoxo

@FliegepilzHut: You described the mental state perfectly! This was my first time on Clomid but no IUI. So, like you said, I'm at the "defensive pessimism" state right now. Only time will tell.
@TheSwissWifeStyle: What kind of tattoo are you getting and where?! Walling you otherwise
nectarine / 2600 posts
@FliegepilzHut: Well, I wrote my OB (I quit my RE a while ago, she totally missed that I had polyps!) a few weeks ago to be like, "Um, now what?" and ask how do we know if the polyps have grown back. He told me to make an appt. for CD 8 or so, but we were away then. So, if it's a BFN this cycle, guess I will do that.
But anyone know just HOW he'll check if I have polyps? The last time was during hysterscopy, and I was under general anesthesia.
And I want to get a blue Koi fish, swimming upstream, with a lotus flower with 3 petals floating away. (3 miscarriages.) From what I understand, the Koi and Lotus both represent struggle and good luck, and blue is supposed to represent reproduction...so we'll see! I'll probably get it on my lower back, towards the left side, maybe out 6 inches or so long? I have an anchor on my lower back, right side, so I figure I'll keep the "Sea" theme going back there
ETA: doh! Isn't Koi a freshwater fish? Oh well, whatev!
