...would you be comfortable being their patient? Having them do your pap smears, cervical checks, deliver your baby? Would you feel comfortable grabbing a coffee with this friend after he/she has seen all your lady bits?

No, but I would ask for his/her recommendation for a gynecologist if I needed one.

No I would not. I'd prefer a doctor I don't see regularly in my circle of friends.

I wouldn't like it, I think I am just too private. Plus I am not sure I am the easiest patient in the world and I would rather not feel like I am bothering my friend.

I think I'd be OK with it.
I delivered my baby at the hospital I work in and I work closely with the nurse who helped my midwife at my delivery. (I work in NICU ).

I don't think so, it would just be too weird for me. My OBGYN is a parent of a former preschool student of mine. That wasn't weird, but maybe because her daughter was no longer in my class when she became my doctor and I didn't see her every day anymore.

Yes no problems, she's no doubt seen everything externally anyway. Haha. She would be a trained professional and even better I would trust her with my life. I think life is too short to be embarrassed over body parts, everyone has them!

Nope. There is a reason doctors can't treat their own kids or spouses.....
My best friend is a midwife, and she "practiced" pap smears, etc. on me while she was in school. Its not about the intimacy factor- that doesn't bother me. I just believe very strongly that when personal lines are mixed with provider lines, inappropriate or uncomfortable or even potentially risky situations can arise. My best friend, who loves me, might not be able to separate her emotional feelings for me from the need to be objective when making medical recommendations.
I'm surprised people would be okay with this, actually.

Nope! I would be ok with my friend there when I delivered. One time, it seems ok to me.

Nope. Way too weird. Besides, I thought it was frowned upon to have patients that are that close to you? Or is that just family?

Yep. I'm cool with it. Similarly I want to be besties with our gyno.

I don't think so. Being a patient is such a vulnerable and private thing, it would be a weird dynamic to bring into a friendship.

I wouldn't be able to do it. After the first time, I couldn't handle going to see my friend who is a masseuse, and she was only working on my back, neck and shoulders. It was partially the closeness factor, but I also felt weird about the whole payment thing...but I guess you don't tip your doctor.

Nope, I much prefer my friendships without the awkwardness of them knowing what my vagina looks like, haha!
