If heaven forbid your siblings were really sick or even worse, would you be in a position where you could take them into your home and raise them as your own?
I think it'd be pretty tough! But we could probably make it work.
If something tragic happened to your sibling (or your SO's), would you be in a position to take their kids into your home?

I'd do it in a heartbeat but it sure wouldn't be easy! I'd have to sacrifice a lot and would likely have to be a SAHM, but I would do it because that's what family does for each other.

If it was my husbands side, where only one brother has a small child, probably. I can't imagine taking in all four of my sisters kids though, just way too much. Not that I would be asked anyways, as we aren't close.

None of my sibling in laws have kids but I would do it in a heartbeat as I know God forbid if something happened to us they would I know

We would make it work. My sister has asked me to take her 3 kids in events like this and I have already agreed. I hope that day never comes.

My brother doesn't have kids and my SIL's son is over at their parent's house alllll the time, so I'm sure he would go to them. But if that wasn't an option for whatever reason, I'm sure we would take him in - it would be really difficult for me behavior-wise, and we would probably not have another biological child of our own as we want to do currently. So it would be do-able but would obviously be hard.

My sister and I have had this conversation and are listed as each other's people in our adoption paperwork, so yeah, we would do it. At this point it would be doable because she has 2 and we have 1 LO, but we are planning on more, so at some point it may become more difficult.

Yes. My brother would take my kids and vice versa. We agreed on it when we setup our will last year.

We have been asked to take a friends kid. DH is his godfather. I know they have a life insurance plan so we would not be financially burdened. We would make it work. I'm sure SIL's kids are set up for, too. They would have to share rooms but who cares?!

Yes I would without hesitation. We took care of my BIL's 2 kids after a nasty divorce from 2008-2012. Our home was the most stable environment for them during their parent's breakup. My BIL is now in a better place in his life and is remarried so he has the kids now.

Yes. We love our nieces and nephews with a ferocity as if they are our own. So yes, we would do it in a heartbeat.
@Kimberlybee: amazing that you did that. Sometimes I think it's so easy for all of us to say yes. But to actually do it, live it,, is an entirely different story. Kudos to you!

My siblings don't have kids yet (even though they are 39 and 33). My older brother is CBC. We've asked my younger brother to take our kid(s) if something happened to us and they were happy to agree.

@locavore_mama: Thank you. Oh there was a lot of drama!!! The kids verbally made it known that they didn't want to live with either parents. We disagreed on discipline styles too but ultimately I had the final say because I took care of them 24/7. Neither mom or dad took care of the kids but would fight on who claimed them on their tax return. The kids even asked us to adopt them. It was just awful for the kids to see their parents fight all the time. I am so glad it's all in the past now.

I Hate hearing about kids getting stuck in between divorce struggles. Thank god they had you to give them at least a stable home meanwhile.

I would absolutely take in my niece and nephew, but I think they have it set up that either my SIL's parents or their friends will take them.

We would be the guardians for my sister's 3 kids in the event something happens to her and her husband. I pray that this never ever happens but if it does we will absolutely take them in even though it would be really difficult. We'd surely have a full house but we'd make it work one way or another.

Yes, we totally would. My dhs siblings have no kids yet, and my brothers son is almost 14 and I'm sure his mom's family wouldn't allow it, but I would help in any way possible.

Neither of my siblings have kids, but we would certainly care for any future kids if something happened. My SIL has 3 kids and already lost her husband (my DH's brother) last year. It makes the whole worst-case-scenario seem a lot closer to home. We will continue to help her in any way that she needs us to.
We know that my sister would take our LO if something happened to us.

My brother doesn't have kids but if he did and something happened to him/my SIL I would fight for them. I would really hope that we would be the guardians but knowing my bro he would not do a will and set that up. My SIL's family is so bat shit crazy though, I'd probably go to court to keep them out of their hands.
My husband's sister does have a baby and we'd glad take him, although I doubt we'd be asked to. My MIL is pretty young and super involved so I think she'd take him.

I only have a 14 year old nephew, but I'd take him in a heartbeat. It would be hard to find space and money, but we would make it work. He's a good kid.
In reality though, he would go live full time with his dad and stepmom.
