Don't do it! The humidity can make it a nightmare. Maybe stencil?

I think it depends how difficult. It is a huuuuge PITA, so you'd have to really want to save the $$ to DIY. If it's a pattern that you have to line up perfectly, even more painful.

@littlek: my parents have wallpaper in their half bath, and the humidity has destroyed it over the years.

But, I would hire someone. I wouldn't have the patience to make all the seams line up!

Rethink your choice! The moisture in bathrooms will cause the wallpaper to peel eventually. Unless this is just a powder too with no shower/tub? At any rate, as someone who has a wallpapered bathroom that needs to be stripped (but who is still too traumatized from doing the kitchen to touch it yet), I don't think it's a great idea. But if you're set on it, have a pro do it - I think they'll ensure the seams are flat so it won't peel quite as quickly.

@littlek: I haven't tried stencils myself, but YHL has some great posts on stenciling they've done.

I would never wallpaper myself!
But I would stencil or use decals.

And I'm sure there's some product out there that can be applied to wallpaper that makes it resistant to humidity. Wallpaper in bathrooms isn't uncommon and I've seen plenty of bathrooms where it hasn't been compromised.

@littlek: I personally love wallpapered bathrooms. Post a before and after pic if you go ahead with it!

ETA: well, depending on the wallpaper of course!

I would probably hire someone, it is not simple. We wallpapered our ceiling (that sounds crazy I know, but it looks pretty) and it was just a texture print thing that we had to line up, and on the ceiling so less noticeable if it wasn't perfect, and it was HARD and pretty time consuming. All that said I did it while I was like 8 months pregnant, it took two of us, but we did it and it looks good, so it is totally doable, but it will not be fun.

@littlek: oh and for those who are aayig it will peel up due to the steam of te shower, it's true...but weve had ours 9yrs (only been living here 4yrs but house is 9yrs old),and we shower at least 3x day (me:once DH: twice), and it is JUST now starting to KINDA peel up in SOME areas
I think it's worth it for 9-10yrs. The. You can get it stripped and redone.

I would hire out, I tried to do a border once and about lost my mind.
