I think she was around 4-5 weeks when I first started pumping. Like you, I'd pump occasionally to leave a bottle for her if I needed to leave the house. I would feed her on one side for her first feed of the day, then I'd pump the other side.

As soon as my milk came in....9 days with LO and 6 days for baby 2.

Around 6 weeks. I fed one side and pumped the other, but my LO has always only fed on one side at a time. If she did both, I'd probably try pumping both sides after a feeding. That would help up your supply!!

We had difficulty feeding in the beginning due to some jaw issues and jaundice, so I started pumping when DD was a day or two old. I would feed her both sides and then pump (although you don't manage to pump much that way). If I were to recommend to someone with a healthy baby where breastfeeding is going well, I'd recommend to pump once or twice a day, and spaced in the middle of when you think the baby might sleep longer (might not work well in the first few weeks though when newborn sleep is all over the place). Milk production is highest in early morning and gets less and less throughout the day so you can use that to your advantage and pump in the morning. I'd recommend not pumping too much in the beginning if you are nursing full time as that can lead to problems with oversupply.

I started pumping around 3 weeks. I never had a regular pumping schedule, but I had A LOT of milk, so I would pump here and there after DD's morning feed (I always had more milk after she was done). Sometimes she would just eat on one side and I would pump on the other. I was terrified of bottle refusal and knew I would be going back to work at 4 months, so DD got a bottle 1-2x/week every week starting at 3-4 weeks just to keep her in the habit.

With my next baby, I plan to pump more often and more regularly from the beginning so that LO can get more bottles (I can get a break!) and hopefully I can build a bit of a stash before going back to work.

B/c LO was in the NICU initially for a few days, I started pumping in the hospital and continued after that. I pretty much had to pump after every time I fed him b/c I was so engorged after my milk came in and built up a freezer stash.

I started pumping when LO was 2 weeks old, as I had to go back to school when she was 2.5 weeks. She only eats from one side at a time, so I started pumping the other side after her morning feed. I actually pump one side every morning so I always have a stash, even though I stay at home with her (other than school). It's so nice to always have milk on hand if I want to go out and do something sans baby.

Lo was 4 days old. We had engorgement issues and the lc had me pump so she could latch and then DH fed her the bottle.

@MrsH: I pumped both sides after nursing and a few times when she was sleeping. I eased up a bit after 6 weeks.

I started around 3 weeks, occasionally. I would do it in the morning. She usually fell asleep after her first feeding in the morning, so I'd put her down, shower (I heard the warm water helps) then pump, about an hour after the feeding. It was really hard to fit it in though, when she was nursing all. the. time. I never did it that regularly though, since I wasn't going back to work, then she stopped taking a reliable morning nap and it was just impossible.

I pumped the first week lo was born because of latch issues. I would pump in between feedings but only got drops the first couple of times. I had to build up a stash pretty quickly too because I didn't get to take very much mat leave so I would feed lo, wait an hour, pump, wait an hour and hen feed lo again. It helped to boost my supply (mine is a little low) and build an adequate stash.

LO was one week old. I wish I had started earlier, as I have low supply. I usually pump after nursing to tell my body to make more milk. I also pump right before bed, about 2 hrs after LO has gone down.
