Do you get SD or pay the extra $ for HD?

I haven't bought anything worthy of the extra price of HD yet. Just a few random DT episodes. Even when we rent movies on the TV we only pay extra for HD if it's a movie where the CG is really good.

I haven't gotten a ton yet, but I just go for the HD usually.

@Mamaof2: computer graphics. How much extra is the Hd? I know on Verizon FiOS HD movies are $1 more. Hey, it adds up! 4 SD movies = one extra SD movie saved!

@regberadaisy: usually only $3-4 dollars but yeah, it adds up - plus kids usually watch on their kindles which I don't think are HD

I usually just spring for the HD, unless it's something that I'm renting specifically for him to watch on my phone/tablet. But usually I'm getting something through Amazon Instant Video that we can then watch on my phone, tablet, or TV with the FireStick, so I get HD.

@littlebug: we have a smart TV and can stream amazon thru it but I always get a message saying that HD movies will be shown as SD due to bandwith issues...... do you have that problem? Maybe I need to call Verizon!

@Mamaof2: No. But we have the FireStick directly from Amazon so maybe it's different? Sometimes our movies start as SD and then flip to HD usually within a minute. Like the router needs to catch up.
I do think that if (hopefully when) we drop our cable and start exclusively using our FireStick we'll need to upgrade our wireless speed - my phone is REALLY slow if we're using our FireStick, especially when the baby monitor is on.

TV shows I just get SD, Disney movies I get HD since I know we'll watch it again and again for years, rentals I only get HD or blu ray if it's sci fi, super actions, etc.
