DH and I had our injections class today and the nurse emphasized not taking HPT at home and waiting 15 days before testing (at fertility clinic). DH wants to hide all my pregnancy tests to keep me from testing... Did you test early????

So you're doing clomid + trigger?
It's up to you, obviously. You seem to like to test early, so testing out a trigger could be the best thing for you.
I've never seen a BFP, so I don't want to test out the trigger b/c I want the first time I see a positive to mean I'm actually pregnant.

When we did ivf, I took one like a day or two before my blood test. I did it because I wanted to be prepared if I was likely to receive bad news. I gave it quite a bit of thought and decided that was best for my sanity. I waited til the very end to test, though.

I tested my trigger out after my IVF cycle and then got my BFP at 6dp5dt (or 11 DPO). I did not test after my IUI cycle because I didn't trigger and I knew before 14 DPO that it hadn't worked.

I always tell myself to wait for AF, but have only done it once (last month). It felt great because I wasn't focused on trying. I, also, don't symptom spot. You will find at least one person with that same symptom and they were pregnant. Of course, none of the symptoms apply to me. When I get pregnant, I still won't believe it.

I tested at home the night before my first beta. I wanted to be prepared for whatever the outcome would be and I'm a POAS addict and got the itch real bad. Just be careful that your trigger is out of your system when you're testing for real!

I always test beforehand, because I'd rather get the news myself at home than hear it on the phone at work. However, my advice is to save yourself the anxiety and either test out your trigger (if you're doing one) or wait to test until at least 12dpo. The testing in between and not knowing if that shadow of a line is from the trigger or a BFP is the worrrrst.

Oh I also wanted to add that the morning I went for my first beta, my nurse told me that they advise people not to test but 99% do anyway. She can usually tell if The patient got good or bad news just from the way they act at that first beta. But the second beta is still the important one (to see doubling) so testing is not the end all be all.

I always tested out the trigger. It made me way more anxious to sit around wondering if I was if wasn't. And betas were kind of late for me 15 or 16dpo, I forget. Basically if I made it to the beta day, I was pregnant, because I typically spotted at 13dpo and had AF 14 DPO.

@tequiero21: that's how I feel... I'm not good at finding out bad news, I need time to process.

I tested out the trigger shot. I know myself too well and there is no way I could wait until 16DPO/DPIUI when my RE's office would test. Plus, since I had to pay for everything out of pocket, I wouldn't have wasted my time with the blood test if I hadn't gotten a + at home.

I tested early after IFV (11dp5dt I think) but only because my trigger didn't contain hcg. I think I still would have tested before my beta for the same reason as @tequiero21 and @Shutterbug.

I test at home, if it's negative I don't want to spend money for an unnecessary test. Plus the nurse at my RE's office always ruins my arm.

I waited until at least the day AF was supposed to arrive, but I had a pretty regular cycle.

@littlek: you know I'm an early tester - 11dpo ish. no way I am waiting for beta. my clinic does 16-17dpo and you can find out almost a week before that . . . I can't handle the suspense. I also can't wait from test time to finding out in the call 5 hours later - it is bad enough to wait for beta #s when you know it's at least somewhat positive.
I tested out my trigger the first time, but haven't really since. it was an interesting experience once but now it seems like too much trouble.

I tested the trigger out after IVF and then got my bfp early at 5dp 5dt. There was just no way I could wait until the beta and especially because I wanted to know at home on my terms, not be told by a stranger. I'd rather know either way by doing my own test than waiting for a phone call. One of my IVF nurses also told me as someone mentioned above that most women do test at home before the beta test.

Of course! I did not want a nurse on the phone telling me "sorry, your not pregnant" I wanted to find out on my own!
I tested at 9dp3dt and got a
When I had my blood test the following week the nurse called to tell me I was pregnant and she said "But I am sure you already knew"

@littlek: I amazingly held out and did not test this last time. I didn't want to set myself up for a negative result and be really heart broken or disappointed, so I opted to wait.

Just wanted to add that I do test at home. My office doesn't schedule betas automatically. I test at 14 dpo, just not early.

After our second iui I wasn't going to test bc the disappointment of seeing a negative all the other times was so hard on me. but I had some super light spotting on my bday, which was 2 days before our re was going to test me, so I took 3 tests and all came back positive I think I was 12dpo on that day and the spotting was implantation bleeding which was very light and hardly anything there

If you do test, definitely test out the trigger! I made the mistake of testing at 10dpo and didn't know if it was the trigger or a true bfp. I then tested every day after that and luckily they stayed positive!

I tested at 12dpo for the last couple of IUI's because I wanted to know ahead of a call from a nurse while I was at work. I figure if the test is wrong I wouldn't mind being surprised to the good side
