None with E because she was FF, but we do oatmeal with T for the iron

No, we skipped cereal entirely. Started with egg yolk, then avocado, banana, etc. First grain he got was around 8 or 9 months when I bought some pouches with oatmeal in them. After that I started adding oatmeal or quinoa to his purees.

We did oatmeal sporadically, but wish we had been more consistent due to the iron. LO ended up anemic and had several rounds of blood work as a result.

We did a little oatmeal in a pinch when I got lazy. We didn't do it until later on when I was trying to get her to eat different textures.

Yes, we do oatmeal. Our pediatrician actually suggests that we skip rice cereal all together because it's known to cause constipation.

We've used oatmeal and quinoa. Now I'll mix in some fage yogurt and applesauce or fruit. We are doing BLW with some purees.

With LO1 we never did grains until she was much older.
With LO2 we started with oatmeal because 1) she has reflux and I was terrified to start other goods again because or first go at solids did not go well. 2) dinner is crunch time and I wasn't super back into meal planning yet and making sure she could eat some of our dinner felt overwhelming to me. We also do a mix of BLW and purees. Now at 8 months, I usually only feed her oatmeal if we don't have any other food lol

We started with green veggies: avocado, sweet peas. Then we moved to orange veggies and we introduced egg yolks pretty early. We have him oatmeal eventually, but our pediatrician wasn't into rice cereal.

We fed him oatmeal - at first we put it through the food processor to make it finer and mixed to with applesauce and cinnamon, then as he got bigger we just cooked it whole.

We did some oatmeal, mostly for iron and something easy to feed when I was lazy (we did BLW mostly). Now I use the rest to mix into pancakes for her.

Nope! Nothing. I mean now she has oatmeal time to time as part of her breakfast.

We did no cereals for either kid. They had grains--rice, pasta, toast, crackers--if that's what we were having for a meal. Both had fine hemaglobin counts at 9 months, so iron wasn't an issue for either child.

Nope. We did start giving him granola pretty early by maybe 8-9 months but I make my own that doesn't have any seeds or nuts in it, and is only sweetened with molasses.

We did oatmeal as a breakfast food for iron (and because that's what we eat as adults - I just ground up regular Quaker oats).
I made sure to do a lot of iron-rich veggies like sweet potato, squash, mushrooms. I even pureed some black beans to mix with banana or sweet potato, but she ate them inconsistently.
We also introduced meat (non-pureed) as soon as we thought she could handle it - started with shredded chicken from the crockpot.

We didn't do any oatmeal or cereals in the beginning. Now at a year J has oatmeal every day because he likes it and it's easy.

We tried oatmeal once (she seemed to hate it). But we had already been doing purées at that point too.

We did some oatmeal cereal because the ped said the extra fiber would help with his constipation.

Oatmeal on occasion, but not until a while later. I probably should have done it sooner since both of my kids are anemic.

I would do homemade steel cut oats "cereal" with applesauce for breakfast. I just put the steel cut oats in a coffee grinder then cook it in milk for a few minutes. Cool down with cold applesauce.
When DD was constipated I would cook steel cut oats in water with flaxseed. That was always sure to get her going!

We did different whole/ancient grains described like @regberadaisy:'s method with grinding them up and cooking them (I used water). It can b

Nope. She has hardly had any grains, other than a bite here and there of something I'm eating. (She LOVES buttermilk biscuit, shocker).

We did a little oatmeal, but I don't think we even finished one container before she just transitioned to more "real" food

We started with oatmeal but he didn't really like it. Avocado was his 2nd food, which he loves.

@macintosh: i gave avocado to my dd the other night and she definitely wasn't too sure about it.
