We won't have a party for A this year so I think we will take her to the zoo and out for dessert instead. I think she will love it!

We went to our regular play date in the afternoon and bil and his girlfriend came over to watch her try cake. VEry low key.

We took LO to the zoo as well and made her favorite meal for dinner and invited my ILs over. I still made her a special Daniel Tiger cake and cupcakes with zoo toppers for daycare the next day. She had an absolute blast. I was worried about making it special for her but I think we did a good job! You saw the IG photos.
ETA: But I have to say she absolutely knew it was her birthday!!!! I think because right before hers was my FIL, then MIL then my nephews. So it was birthday galore right before hers so she definitely knew it was *her* day!

E isn't having a party either, we'll take her to the zoo in the morning and probably go out for dinner in the evening.

@Bao: we went to the zoo! On her actual birthday, we went to a bounce house.

No big party for birthday 1, 2 or 3! I just don't want any of the stuff! Or the responsibility of throwing the party and deciding who to invite. In my town bday parties are in rented out halls with like 30+ kids! Insanity.
We always just do a family thing! This year for her 3rd we had a "this is not a party playsate" on the morning after her bday and cookies pancakes for her 4 best friends.

We didn't do a big 3rd birthday for daughter and probably won't again until the bigger milestone birthdays. Instead we took the money we would have spent on her birthday party and went on a vacation. We are going to do the same thing this year! Money better spent. We did get her a cake, everyone should have cake on their bday.

@anewme: My mom is making her a Hello Kitty cake! Well, she won't get it until the day after her birthday but it will still be fun for her!

@Bao: my daughter would die for hello kitty in cake form! What a lucky DD you have and your mom is so sweet to do that for her!

@anewme: So she is super into Hello Kitty as well? I was never a huge fan until DD became obsessed. I like that she gets so excited about something.

@Bao: she's not super obsessed but her eyes do light up when she sees it. I think if i fed into it more, she could totally become obsessed. It's so weird because I'm not really into character worships and definitely didn't do anything to steer her the direction to like what she likes but they just naturally gravitate towards it.

@anewme: Same here, no idea where the love came from, I never even introduced HK to her, or Elmo...which she also loves. How old is your LO again?

For her 3rd birthday, we took DD to a moonbounce place and then out to lunch. I did make her the 6-layer rainbow cake she asked for

For DD's 3rd birthday we stayed home and made tacos (her fav) and then she asked for a princess cake - so we had cake and she opened her gifts - she had a great time!!!
