We decided not to get a dog for our kids.
We might get them some fish though

we have two dogs, so we'll likely get other dogs in the future when our furbabies pass.
if we didn't already have dogs pre-baby though, we would not have chosen to get them for the kids.
our furbabies were DH and my dogs. OUR responsibility. I don't think I'd put dogs in the care of school-aged kids. (and wind up with the duties ourselves)

NO! DH lives/works out of town and I can't take care of anything else around these parts.

We have a dog but she hasn't lived with us since a few months before the kids were born. We are taking her back from my parents in 2 weeks or so! Wish us luck!

I had dogs when living at my moms house then took one of them with us when we married but he has passed away. I vow never to have another dog again because its so much responsibility and traveling was hard finding someone willing to take the dogs in. Plus I could not go through watching another animal being put out again. My dog was sick for about a year before he left us so it weighed so heavily on me. Totally turned me off to having anymore
