Hellobee Boards

This will be the first year we set a budget. In the past, it's gotten a little ridiculous. I really want to just get a shared gift, or something beneficial for the house, but he's hellbent on playing Santa. I've asked him not to go over $100, including stockings. I want to keep it simple, and just focus on our new baby.

We usually set a limit that varies each year, but if we realllly want to get each other something over budget we just go for it. So far this year I've ordered him the Alton Brown cookbook box set ($30 off with a coupon!) and I hope to get him a few pairs of jeans and a few smaller things. He always spoils me so I'm trying to do right by him this year!

@birdofafeather: My DH famously said to an uncle (when he was 7 or 8 years old) that "books aren't toys". So every year I tease him about getting him a book.

We haven't set a budget (it is sort of unspoken), but I did go a little ridiculous this year. It is just one item, but I know he can really, really use it.

We haven't set a budget per say...he said since he makes way more than me it's unfair to have us spend the same amount. He said he'd be "mad" if I spent 1000. I'll probably keep it in the 600ish range.

I wanted to get him either a PS4 or an X-box 1, but they are impossible to get here til March practically. If I had gotten one of those, it was going to be my only gift for him pretty much. So now I'll probably just shop around and pick up what looks good for him, clothes and stuff. Then give him a gift card for a large amount to the main electronics store here, so he can have most of the game system paid for whenever it is available. (His birthday is Saturday also, and when his friends asked what to get him I said a gift-card to that store as well.)

Anyone want to share specifically what they are getting their DH? One gift I'm pretty proud of, is a TY stuffed animal. A Husky dog. It's the same one I got him in college years ago, but when we broke up back then, he gave it away to his younger cousin! I happened to find it here, miraculously, and thought it'd be cute to give it to him again

@dc yoga bee: Nice! Yeah I feel bad that I couldn't get him one of the systems, but oh well. Some things just seem 10x harder here! And awesome that you used rewards for it!

We said we' only get stocking stuffers this year, but I couldn't help getting him a small UFO remote control toy. I also plan to get him swim shorts for our upcoming winter vacay (yay)!

Haha. We just had this discussion yesterday. He thought our budget was $50, I already spent $100. Ooops.

We have set budgets in the past but DH never sticks to them. He always goes overboard. He wanted an Xbox 1 this year so that will be his only gift (besides stocking stuffers).

We don't really set limits, we just buy each other whatever we think is best. We don't usually spend more than $100 though.

We don't set limits. He usually spends a lot more on me, but he also makes a lot more than me! His birthday is also two weeks before, so I get doubled whammied in a month where things are already tight. I usually spend about $200? He probably spends about $400?
