We started practicing with water in a sippy cup when DS was around 7 months old. We've given him nursery water or gerber pure when we had it. Otherwise, we just pour some from our Brita pitcher.

We got Zero Water at Bed, Bath and Beyond. They have a website and reviews on Amazon. It's like Brita, but it filters water in more stages with the purpose of removing more contaminants. It comes with a digital water tester too. Love it!
