If I got an email from an ex, I probably wouldn't mention it unless there was something important or controversial in the email. I haven't been in touch with any exes in a long time though, so it's not really something that comes up.
If you got an email from an ex, would you mention it to your SO? If your SO got an email from an ex, would you want to know?

Yes, no matter what it said. Cover all your bases, you know? I don't keep anything from DH and I would be piiissed if he was talking to his ex without even mentioning it

Yes, I would tell him and I would want him to tell me. That way, nothing is a "secret" and can't come out in the future somehow.

Actually that's so funny it happened to me recently. I told DH about it and since I told the ex about my pregnancy, he wrote back with well wishes and hospital questions (he's a Dr.). Nothing weird and awkward. When he mentioned maybe being friends on FB I told DH and he had no issues. dH is friends with an ex or 2 on FB and I don't care either.

Depending on weather ot not it would upset DH. I have an ex that lingered for way too long after I called things off. He drunk dialed me when I was 8 months pregnant on a Wednesday night to congratulate me because he heard I was pregnant. This is over 8 years since I broke things off to get back together with DH (we split up for 6 weeks when we were 19 and I casually dated this guy). 2 weeks later I heard his finacee left him and their wedding was called off. That phone call really upset DH for no reason, and I would hate to upset him like that again over something stupid.

I have an ex that occasionally out of the blue still contacts me. DH always knows.

It would be very odd for my exes to email me, or for his exes to email him. I'm sure we would come up with all kinds of crazy speculations for what made that person think of us.

Yes, but I'm at least FB friends with all but one (and DH is fairly good friends with one of them). DH told me when his The Ex emailed him when we were dating. He BCC'd me his reply, which was all about how amazing I am and how his family loves me.
