Vaginally. They had trouble getting my placenta to detach. I had a transfusion after.

For those of you with PP hemorrhages, was your birth augmented with pitocin? We're planning a home birth, and this is my biggest fear. I know that drugs can increase the potential of a bleed, but it's not always the case.

Vaginally. I had a transfusion after, for the same reason as @loveisstrange:.
@Vegmama: I didn't have pitocin. We would like to have a homebirth for subsequent babies, but that's the one thing stopping me from being totally sure. I'm scared it will be recurrent!

Vaginally.
@Vegmama: I was induced. I didn't have hemorrhaging during birth though. I did for a couple days a week or two after birth. So glad it was brief and not major. Just some swelling.

@Vegmama: I was wondering this! I had pitocin and I am fairly convinced that is what was the problem. Talk to your midwife about what she has if there is a problem. We talked with a midwife this year as I am trying to convince my hubs to have another baby and a homebirth. She has a number of meds she can use to stop a bleed. We are also only minutes from the hospital (literally 2 miles at most).

@brownie: Our midwives have pitocin in our refrigerator right now (I'm due any day), and it's there to stop a hemorrhage in case one should occur. I've seen this situation at a home birth before, and I know it's effective. I'm so prepared, but this is the only piece that scares me!!

I don't know if mine was technically a hemorrhage, but my tear was so bad and required an hour of stitching which necessitated a transfusion. I also was induced with pitocin.

@Vegmama: yes. I was induced after my water broke and I didn't go into labor.

@Vegmama: Our midwife mentioned another fast acting medication as well.
