We had the hardest time with clothes! He was always off the charts, 20lbs at 4m, 25 lbs at 6, almost 30 at 1! We just sized up so fast because above all I wanted him to be comfortable. His waist would easily be too tight in certain brands, even if I sized up, they just seemed longer! I found h&m worked best for him. And guess what, at over 2, he's still wearing a lot of the same clothes from over a year ago! So it definitely slowed down at 1, and even more at 2 plus he shot up in height.

My little one was very chunky and short. Around 18 months, she started evening out a bit. By 2.5, I noticed her dreamy thighs looked more like kid legs ... she's still a teeny bit short (like 40% on height), but she's at 50% on the weight chart at 3.

@agold: We cloth diapered, so that might have helped a bit with the height issue!! I do know that she was just usually about 3 months ahead in clothing. Separates were better than 1 piece outfits, and for her onesies, I just bought them a bit big to accommodate the giant diaper.

Both of my boys were chunky
DS2 has been 90% for height and like 80-90% for weight
their daddy is 6'5" so I think that has something to do with it.

However as @mrsbubbletea: said he kept being double for clothing so like 12m at 6m, but now that he's 21m he's been in 2T for I'd say at least 6 months so it's slowing down

I find Gymboree to be cut more generously for my boys

@agold: My mom altered a ton of his pants but we should have done all of them! One crazy example of the clothes fitting is I have a picture of him from Halloween time wearing these leggings, he was about 10m, he can still wear them and they fit great at almost 27m! (I had to do the math just now, I never refer to him by months anymore!)

My second kiddo was a total chubster until she started walking. She was 92% for weight and about 85% for height her whole first year. But now at 19 months, she's down to only 80% for height and 60% for weight. She has had a lot of illness this winter and frequently loses her appetite, so she's slimming down. She's still chunkier than my 3 year old, though...she's been around 20-30% for weight her whole life.

@agold: I birthed a 9 bl 14 oz kiddo, and he was in the 90th percentile for everything until about 18 months. I remember skipping straight from 6 month clothes to 12 month clothing due to a growth spurt.

He kind of stalled at 2.5 years old, and now at 3 years old he is about the same height/weight as most of the kiddos his age, and is in the 60th percentile for everything now.

My DS2 is 14 months and 28lbs. He's always been 99th %ile. He's definitely not as chunky as he was at six months, but we always have been up at least a size if not two. Right now he is wearing 24 months or 2T's. But the pants are always really long. I cuff them in the big cuffs. Shorts are easier. And he lived a lot of the winter in sweat pants which are easier and roomier.

My son has been on the higher end of the weight/height scale since he was about 6 months old, and now he's 6 years old. His thighs started slimming down around 3 yo. Now at 6 he still has a bit of a belly, but his arms and legs are skinny. He's about 90th percentile for height and 80th for weight, which is pretty consistent with how he has been since he was a baby.

I've had some big babies but they're always taller than they are heavy so we haven't had much of the marshmallow arms. My first and third were over ten pounds and stayed at the top of the chart for a long time. My third (14 months) is off the charts in height and 97% in weight but looks proportional. They've been early walkers so I assume it's muscle mass that's making them heavy.

My oldest leveled off around three so now she's 75% in h/w and only wearing one size ahead. My third is wearing the same wardrobe as her older average sized sister.
They fit well in Gap and Old Navy. Carter's is too unpredictable and Target isn't in Canada anymore.

G was definitely a chunk (90% of his 9 lbs birth weight was in his cheeks, I'm pretty sure). As a newborn, he had normal height, but he's on the shorter side now, at least compared to his percentile for weight. Once he got mobile, though, instead of being chunky, he just looks solid. He does have a big tummy still, but that's the only place that he looks "chubby" now. As far as clothes, we just wear a full size ahead of what would be "standard." So he just turned 2 in January and has been in 3T for about 6 months. The clothes fit his waist, but we have to put several rolls at the bottom of his pants because his legs are so short.

My 9 month old is wearing size 24 months and size 5 diapers. I'm guessing he's at least 27 lbs (Dr. Appointment is Tues). I only buy stretchy pants, otherwise they don't fit his thighs and hips. I'm hoping he'll slow down (on weight gain) now that he's crawling.

My older son was not as chunky as this one, but always in the 80% for weight... he slimmed down starting around a 15 months and stayed in size 24m- 2T for about a year. He is currently 3.5 and thin and tall, wearing size 4T.

@agold: I'm not sure about birth, as he's a foster kiddo. But since 6 months when he came into care, they've been similar. He's definitely gained more weight than he has grown in height though. I think at 6 months the percentiles were more like 15th and 60th or so. Although, now we are measuring on the wall and he has grown 3/4" in the last month, so maybe he's finally going to shoot up instead of just continuing to expand outward!
