I've heard it's more common for premie parents to need a baby scale. Wondering if this is true.

Mine weren't early, but they were little and we borrowed one from our LC's office. I posted more details to your wall, but it was very nice to be able to do weighted feeds at home!

I didn't get a baby scale but had a visiting nurse every other day for the first two weeks we were home. He was in the NICU about a month

Yes, it was so much easier than bringing him in all the time to get weighed. Edited to say not necessary--just easier.

No, but mine weren't super early, just a month. The doctor's office said we could borrow a scale, but just for our peace of mind, not because we needed it. I decided not to, I would have just analyzed every feed, and we were doing fine without it.

No. He was 6 weeks early. His ped kept pretty close watch on how s weight after he was discharged. There was way too much going on with having a new baby I couldn't handle the anxiety of constantly weighing, analyzing my supply, etc. I knew if he didn't gain weight I would see that as a failure on my part...didn't need that stress as a FTM!

My kids weren't preemies but left the hospital at 4 lbs 11 oz and 5 lbs 2 oz and I never needed my own scale. I had to go in for at least one weight check at the pediatrician' s and I would go to my hospital's breast feeding support group and do weighed feelings there. With my first I'd weigh her three times a week at the support group. With my second I only went a handful of times.

My preemies have been home 3 days already and no need for a scale. Just the pediatrician will see them next week and monitor from there on out. Thought never even crossed my mind, it would just be more space being taken up over here

Yes, my SIL lent us theirs and we weigh LO every other day. A bit obsessive? Yes, but he was born 3 lbs 14 oz, and he's still in the 2nd percentile. He was 5 weeks early.
