I had meconium in my water. Went into labor two days before due date, water broke at the hospital about two hours before she was born and the midwife said there was meconium. The only difference for us was that a ped team of some sort was in the room for the delivery, but everything was completely fine and I had immediate skin to skin. It's a blur but i don't think they had to do any special evaluations really. She came out screaming and I don't think they even paused to suction her before giving her to me.

I delivered naturally at 40w5d after 50+ hours of labor. They found meconium in my water a few hours before I delivered LO. There were extra people in the room when I delivered in case of aspiration, which LO did not have. I didn't get immediate skin to skin as planned because they had to check LO and bathe her. She looked like swamp thing. I really wish I had a picture since I've never seen anything like it even after a Google search. They washed her in the bathroom sink she was so yucky. No NICU or treatment needed. I do wish someone helped me clean up though because my legs were slathered in it when they told me to walk to recovery.

We kept finding meconium in LOs crevices (ears, nails, etc) for weeks.

I had meconium with both deliveries and the only difference is that they had me move to the delivery bed immediately after the water broke and that they did three swabs on LOs (ears, nose and mouth) no suctioning required with either kid.

40w6d. I was induced and when my OB broke my water there was meconium in it. I ended up with a csection, but they did nothing extra with him after he was initially checked out. Never went to nicu or anything.

@Mrs. Blue: when they broke my water, there was meconium. For us, it meant that the respiratory team had to be there when she was delivered, and they suctioned her lungs and checked her breathing. It was really quick (15 min?) and then she was right back on my chest.

Went into labour at 41+6 but ended in c/s. LO was breathing a little funny, so they took her to be observed for 15 min. And then brought her back. She was fine.

Not my story but was there when the OB broke my friend's water last week and there was a lot of meconium. They didn't seem overly worried but said there would be a NICU team in there when she delivered. Baby's heart rate was good through 3.5 hours of pushing but he just didn't want to come out so she ended up with a c-section. Her DH said he looked like the Hulk when he came out because he was covered in green meconium. But he was fine, so they cleaned him up and she got to hold him very quickly after.

I was induced at 41+1 for high bp and when my water broke there was meconium in it. I was told the only change would be a pediatric team present at delivery to check LO out. I ended up with an emergency c section in the MOTN and I think there was a ped team there. They took LO right away (I didn't even see her first) but just to the other side of the room. She came out wailing so that was a good sign. I have no idea what she looked like or if they suctioned her or what else they did to her. I know it was very fast (like maybe 2 or 3 minutes at most?) and they wiped her down and gave her to my husband who brought her over to me to see while they sewed me up.

I went into labor at 39+2, and there was meconium in my water when it broke. We had a nicu team on the room when he was born and the labor nurse dropped my leg rushing him to the table (I couldn't feel it, epidural...) and they worked on him probably 20 minutes before I got him. No nicu time for us.

41 weeks, induced. My water broke at the hospital about halfway through my labor and they found meconium in it. All they did was have a peds nurse on standby. I believe they just suctioned her really well and that was it. She was fine!

My water broke at 40 weeks with no signs of labour and light meconium staining. My midwife assessed the situation and said it was likely just a sign of a mature baby since she wasn't in distress.
In the end I didn't go into labor on my own so I transferred to the hospital for an induction 24hrs later. Baby was delivered vaginally but the dr pulled her out because she had the cord wrapped around her neck TWICE! Despite this her apgar was 9 & 9 so absolutely perfect healthy girl! We ended up readmitted to the hospital for jaundice a few days later but I don't think that was related.

I had meconium in my water with C, I know she had to be suctioned quite a bit and there was a team there, but the rest is a blur, I had my own problems. I could tell my husband was concerned but she was just fine! Born at 39 5 days.

DD was a booked c-section at 38 weeks. There was "old" mec present and she did not cry at delivery so was inubated to suction below the cords. She had respiratory distress and low sats so she was admitted to NICU. She was on O2 for several hours then was it was taken off theoretically she could have been transferred but she also has a small heart defect that needed extra monitoring until discharge. She came to my room during the day and for feeds but she was put on monitor when I was asleep.

I was 11 days late. I had meconium and they had a team ready but baby was fine and required no special care.

My water broke 10 days early and when I got to the hospital the nurse and doctor told me there was meconium and that there would be a neonatologist present at the birth to assess DS. Turns out he was breech and did not have any in his system as it all directly exited when my water broke! Lol. The nurse said when she saw the clumps of meconium and saw that it had not mixed in with my water she knew then that DS was breech! He was quickly checked after the section but was good to go!

Had LO on my due date so right at 40 weeks and when my midwife broke my water she say there was meconium in the water so pretty much like everyone else has said they just had extra people (nicu nurse) in the room and when LO came out he was fine they checked him while I delive the pleacenta and got stitched up but they never took him anywhere and the extra nurses didn't stay long at all.
