How long before TTC did you get it removed? I was going to get it taken out a month before TTC but now I'm thinking maybe I should get it out two months before we were wanting to TTC?

I took it out and got a positive pregnancy test about 4 weeks later.

@Mrs. Grizzly Bear: It's only because i had a chemical pregnancy, and it made me wonder if i should've waited. I'm sure it was a coincidence, and it definitely isn't to scare the OP, but it made me wonder/blame myself.

Mirena totally messed up my cycle so I had it taken out about 4 months before we started TTC. I was one of the weird people who had a period or spotting about every 2 weeks while I had it so I wanted it out!

You can potentially conceive from intercourse in the week before removing it. Sweetie and I got it on in the week prior with that in mind. However, my first cycle off of it was really whacky and I can't see how a successful pregnancy could've actually happened for me.

I had mine out six months before TTC. My doc recommended three months between removal and TTC so your lining has time to get back to normal. My first cycle after removal was biblical.

I got mine out in late December, started TTC in March, conceived in May. I would do a similar timeline again in the future.

@BelugaBean: I had it removed I'm March and started ttc in july. I just charted my cycles the last couple months to see if things seemed normal.

We started trying right away, my doctor did warn me that in her experience women who got pregnant before having a period were more likely to have a chemical. All that being said it took five months before I got pregnant.

Thanks everyone! This does help a lot, I'll definitely go have it removed at least a month earlier than I had planned on!
