We are going to move DS1 out of the nursery this fall in preparation for the arrival of DS2. I could easily just move #2 into the nursery as is, but I am trying to decide if I should change it up a little for him. Or not bother. What do you think?

We don't know the gender yet but I think we will probably order new crib sheets (same pattern) and changing pad/covers. Otherwise it'll stay the same.
ETA: as I'm typing this it feel bad because that means DS1 will be the only one to get a room planned for him, and now he will have a toddler room planned for him too.

I have 2 girls a little less than 2 years apart and I did not change the nursery at all. Or buy anything besides a going home outfit. Which didn't fit, lol.

I didn't. The only things I changed were things that had big brother's name. I replaced those with new items with little brother's name.

Yes but only because I didn't get to do #1's nursery the way I wanted to (we lived in an apt and now live in a house). I kept all the same furniture but just switched up the colors (lavender & green vs. pink & green).

LO 3 is moving into LO 2's old room that I haven't changed!

I made a new nursery because I wanted them to have their own rooms.

Yep! We were going to move ds1 out but decided against it. We didn't want him to go through too much change since we moved him to a twin bed straight from crib even though he hadn't tried to climb out! We kept him in his nursery and swapped out furniture and redid the guest room for the new nursery!

Well, mine will be sharing a room until we move, but hypothetically in your situation I wouldn't bother. Babies don't care. When they are older and have preferences and want to choose things, I will make sure to not just give the little sibling only hand me downs. Until then I'll save my money and effort I think.
But this is from someone who has an almost two year old and never felt like the nursery looked that great.

We're keeping M in her room and will be moving the crib/changing table into the new nursery. I'm looking forward to decorating another room

I wax team green both times and left the nursery the same. They can have their own room designs when they are old enough to care. DS's toddler room design still didn't have much to do with him - it was more about what I wanted.

We did change it but we also moved so that was a big part of the reason. We were team green with LO1 and found out with LO2 so that also contributed.

We kept DS 1 in his room and I found bedding to match the wall color. We re-used the nursery bedding. But I changed the paint color on the walls and changed the accent colors I used. The bedding is white with an aqua stripe. So ds1 I painted walls gray with a white and Aqua stripe. White and Aqua as the accent colors. This nursery I did the Aqua color on the walls and mustard yellow and gray as accents.
