Just curious what others do? If you have multiple children and one is sick and others are healthy, do you take the healthy one to daycare if you stay at home with the sick one?
For reference our situation is my husband and I both work FT outside of the home and we use a center based daycare. If one child is sick my husband and I don't have any other childcare situation other than one of us staying home from work.

Yes. Always. My healthy one doesn't need to be hanging around germs all day here at home. Plus it's hard to nurse (back to health) one well while taking care of the other.

Yes, I always take the healthy one to school. No need for the healthy one to get sick too.

Yes. Usually I'm trying to get some amount of work done while watching the sickie. A healthy one bouncing off the walls would not help.

I've done both. Kept them both at home or kept one at home. Depends how much energy I have to take the well one out to daycare. I think I was up most of the night with the sick one so getting the other one out the door wasn't at the top of my list.

Always send the healthy one to school. It's easier for me to manage and I can give the sick one my full attention!

Definitely, both to keep the healthy one away from the germs and to be able to give all my attention to the sick one.

Hasn't happened to me yet (knock on wood), but I've tended to think that if the illness includes vomiting, everyone will stay home. I don't want to risk the second child who "seems" healthy throwing up at school, and I also don't really want to drag a vomiting child out of the house to drop the other one off at school. When they're big enough to take a bus, this is less of an issue, of course.

Healthy one definitely goes to school. No reason for them to share germs. Plus, the sick one sometimes comes to the office with me. Or I work from home because the sick one will take long naps.

Serious (and non-judgemental, I promise) question:
How do you handle dropping off the healthy kid? Does the sick one stay in the car? Or are you usually able to enlist your SO or a sitter to do drop-off? Or do you just instruct your sickie not to touch anything at school and go in and out as quickly as possible? 
I'm sure we'll be dealing with this situation sooner rather than later, and I totally get wanting to try to keep the healthy kid healthy!

@PinkElephant: One of us would take the healthy one to daycare and the other would stay home with the sick one. Our daycare is right around the corner though. So one day last week DD was sick so DH left her with me while I got ready for work and he brought DS to daycare. 10 minutes later he was back and he took her to the ped while I went to work.

I SAH but my older two go to preschool. If one of the kids is sick, chances are everyone will stay home because I'm responsible for drop off and pick up and I probably would opt not to drag a sick kid out of the house for that. If it's just a cold but they are feeling crappy then I might send the other to school.

@PinkElephant: What we usually do is the one of us drops off/picks up the healthy kids (we have 3) and the other one stays at home with the sick kiddo. However, on Friday I stayed home with my sick baby and my husband was able to drop off the other 2 but had to work late so couldn't pick them up. I had to take the sick baby to pick up the other 2. He is 8 months old and I kept him in the baby car seat in the stroller so he was contained easy and not touching anything but I felt like I maybe got the side eye from some people.
I have had to do pick up on the rare occasion with the sick child and I just try to keep them at my side and have them not touch anything.
Thanks all for your responses. We have always taken the healthy ones to daycare but just wanted to feel out what others do. I guess even if I got the side eye, I gotta do what I gotta do!

We stay home. There isn't usually anyone but me free to do drop off/pick up and generally if one is sick the other isn't far behind.

Take the healthy one.
I could call into the front desk and they would send someone out to pick up the healthy child from the car.

@PinkElephant: Usually I have the sick kid sit in the office at school while I take the healthy one to their class. Or if they're really bad, I see if my mom can help.
