do you get asked a lot if your going to try for the opposite sex?
urgh im getting asked this a lot since i am pregnant with another boy and its annoying! like cant you just say congrats and be happy that i am having a baby! im excited to have another boy why do people act disappointed or ask if we will try for a girl!

I am actually surprised that this hasn't been brought up one single time to me! I'm pregnant with my second daughter, and everyone is so normal about it! Pretty much everyone says something like 'Yay sisters!!', which is exactly my thought 
Although, everyone that knows me *knows* that I really want 4 girls, so they know better than to say something about me hoping for a boy. But I am definitely surprised at the strangers' reactions...

I am getting the same comments as you and I am expecting my 2nd boy (I couldn't be more thrilled!)....At least the people who really matter are excited about this little bundle of joy!

@swurlygurl: I think it may be a "wanting your own sex" thing. I would think if anyone would get comments in your situation, it would be your husband about whether HE wants a boy. People are so silly. It doesn't matter what we want - we get what we get!
@stargal: People are annoying. I am having a little boy and I was talking to my husband last night and told him for the next I actually WANT another boy. I want my boy to have the bond my sister and me had. Plus these people obviously haven't seen your adorable DS - who wouldn't want a second version of him?

Yes - all the time. I am truthful and say that we probably will. But that even if I have a 3rd boy, I will be happy because I picture my life with 3 kids. Sure, I hope to have a girl to experience a daughter, but ultimately healthy baby is what I want. People usually like that answer.

Yes! We had 2 girls and everyone always asked if we were going to try for a boy and now that I'm pregnant again everyone keeps telling me I better have a boy this time... I would sarcastically tell them that I'll try my hardest 
but hey, it looks like we are having another girl so hah!

I really hate when people say "try for a girl/boy" it's so annoying. As if we have any control???!!! This would annoy me too. It's not respectful of the new baby and the fact that they are an entirely new person! It's also not nice for someone who might be experiencing a bit of gender dissapointment. I know you aren't but if you were it would sting.

I only have one right now (a son) and people keep asking are we going to try for a girl and I'm like noooo I want another boy and really am hoping when we TTC next year that it is a boy I always dreamed of having sons but of course if it's a girl I will still be happy babies in general are such a joy to me

@MrsMccarthy: Yes, this completely!! And honestly, I've wanted a daughter for basically forever. I don't want the whole world knowing that because I love my boys...but I also don't need people reminding me that I don't have a daughter. And it's not like having a third child, even if it is logistically and financially possible (which I'm not sure it is) would guarantee a girl.
I was dreading announcing that we were having another boy on FB because last time a bunch of DH's relatives posted crap like, "Oh, ya'll need some girls!" Um..it was our first child! But apparently since my SIL had already had a boy, it didn't matter. So far people have surprised me and I am relieved about that, but I'm sure the comments are coming ...

That would annoy me too! We have a daughter and are expecting a boy. Now we constantly get the comment, "oh good, now you don't have to keep trying for that boy!" Wtf! We were planning on stopping after two and would have been just as happy with another daughter.

@wonderstruck: aww I'm so sorry honey. I know you are thrilled for your new little boy and he will rock your world but I also think its okay to be a bit sad you may not get to experience a daughter. Especially now because you don't know your new son yet so its all an abstract idea at this point anyway. People are so annoying about this kind of stuff. Congrats on your healthy little boy.

You can just SAY that to these nosy busy-bodies! People need to learn that it's inappropriate to imply otherwise.

I hear it all the time, and when I say I only want 2 kids, they look at me with their mouths open like they can't believe I only want 2. Um... 2 kids that are about 2 years apart is enough birth control to last me a life time! mmm-k, thanks
