your doorbell?
We always meant to, but never got around to it-- I think one of these days it warms up I'm going to have DH do it. But we'll see.

We don't have one, but it wouldn't help anyways because our dog barks when he hears people outside our door. And he always barks at knocking!

We don't have one. We got one not long after we adopted our dog but no one ever used it and it's broken now. What's funny is he would still bark whenever he heard it even though we had never had one. I guess in his previous home they had a doorbell! Lol
He barks at knocking anyway and he always knows when someone's here before they even knock because he sits in the living room window and watches the driveway!

Huh... now I wonder if that's what the previous owners of our house did. They had dogs and our doorbell doesn't work. I wonder if it's disabled!

I don't plan to. My dog barks equally for doorbells and knocking at the door, so it wouldn't make a difference. But I'm seriously considering DIYing a door hanger to the effect of-- unless you're selling thin mints, don't knock on my door unless you want to get my kid back to sleep.

We have one, but he'll bark long before a vistor gets to hitting the doorbell, so we haven't botthered having it disabled.

No. Only the UPS man uses our doorbell and they're alrwady barking him long before he pushes it!

I tried putting up a sign asking people not to ring the doorbell but they decided that was an invitation to bang on the door, window, etc. That's no better!

Our doorbell doesn't work and our dogs STILL go insane! When someone's in the driveway, on the porch, knocking....they are a serious burglar alarm. (Or friend alarm...or mail alarm...or kids running down the street alarm...)

No, it's pretty rare that anyone comes to the door. And she barks if someone knocks anyway.

My mom adopted our dog years ago, but if he did live with us, yes. He barks like crazy at the doorbell, real or fake (aka tv). Thankfully, DS sleeps through the crazy barking, but it drives me up the wall!

@Dandelion: Yup, same here. My dogs can hear their diesel trucks before they get to the door.

No, our dog isn't a barker. In fact he's the absolute worst guard dog in the world!

Nope, our dog only barks for three reasons: there is construction equipment nearby, she sees a snowman or a scarecrow. Otherwise you would think she is mute.

No, my dog barks when someone walks up to our house and my kids can usually sleep through the bell and barking.

When we had our house painted, the doorbell got 'unhooked' and we never hooked it back up. Doesn't matter though. Their spidey sense tingles as soon as someone walks by, if they turn up the driveway it's bark-a-palooza. Luckily, DD just learned to sleep through it.
