I had a lap to have my gallbladder removed 5 years ago. Slightly different area, but same idea. I had 5 tiny incisions, and I don't remember them being painful. I was sore, and I was sick, but I think my getting sick was mostly from the anesthesia. I agree with @T.H.O.U: the gas was the worst part. Drink a lot of water, eat some fiber, and try to get up to move. It will help get it out!

My wife had laporscopic surgery for an ovarian cyst and I'd say she was up and around after about 2 days. The first day was tough but nothing compared to the pain she was in after knee surgery. The main problem after her surgery was output. She had to be straight cathd and prove she could go on her own before they'd release her.

I haven't read your post yet but I can imagine what's going on. I just got my iud removed last month. Thinking positive thoughts for your surgery. Hope you feel better soon!

My husband had his appendix out with a lap. surgery and the gas part was just uncomfortable for him. He was very sore for about 2-3 days and then started feeling better. Definitely agree on trying to move as much as possible to get the gas out of your system, but take breaks when you need to. He had the glue stitches and they said as long as that didn't fall off within the first week, he could go in the pool. He didn't risk it, though, so I did swim lessons with our LO that week.

I had a lap to remove cysts and fibroids. I'd say I felt much better after 3 days or so. The gas they pump into you was what hurt the most and the pain meds didn't work for that. The gas migrated up to my shoulder area and that hurt. Moving your arms around as much as you safely can, will help. After my surgery, I was told by a friend that Gas-X helped her with that pain. As far as pain from the surgery, it was bad, but not terrible I took my Rx meds on schedule for about 3 days and then didn't need them every 4-6 hours, it was just once in the morning and once before bed.

I had a hard time moving around, like getting in and out of bed(but our bed is abnormally high) and getting up and down from the couch. You don't realize how often you use your stomach muscles until it hurts to. I found that holding a pillow tightly to my chest decreased the pain when getting up.

Not sure if others had this happen to them, but I developed one heck of a cough after my surgery, something to do with being incubated and the anesthesia. It hurt like crazy to cough unless I had the pillow to my chest. It went away completely in about a week.

I felt completely back to my normal self at about 2 weeks. But, it was close to a month before I felt comfortable returning to yoga and Pilates just because my incisions still seemed sore.

I don't remember what my doctor said about getting in water. I could shower the next day but I want to say it was 2 weeks before I could take a bath or be submerged in water.

I had a laparoscopic surgery for ovarian cysts, and I tried to move as much as possible. As soon as I was released from the hospital I was trying to walk short distances, I did not want to stay in bed the whole time. DH and I went out for dinner, I walked up and down the stairs at our house, I walked out to sit in the yard. The hardest parts were getting up out of chairs and bed, and bending down to let our 10 week old puppy out of her cage. I also had the shoulder pain from the gas. Make sure you have plenty of elastic waist pants to wear. The thing that surprised me the most about recovery was how sleepy I was. I was actually only really sore for 2 or 3 days, but I think I got extraordinarily tired for 4-5 days.
