we don't plan on TTC until LO is almost 3, shes 7 months now. Would you keep the same carseat until then?

yup! BUT our carseat was among the biggest/heaviest so we're probably going to get a smaller, lighter one.

We did! Car seats are good for 5 years and have a date on the bottom, so we made sure ours was still good. It has been a little pain lugging it around though - we've moved 3 times!

Yup as long as there haven't been any recalls. My understanding is most car seats are supposed to be good for six years.

We wanted to but our first infant carseat was really boyish. We ended up buying both of them new carseats so in a year, DD can use DS carseat that's only a year old while DS will get a booster seat.

I did save my infant carseat and used it for both girls... 3 years, 5 months apart! it's pink though... if #2 were a boy I would've just ordered boy-ish fabric to replace it through Graco.

Car seats have an expiration date, so as long as it isn't expired, I'd use it. Expiration times vary and are according to the date of manufacture, by the way.

As long as it hasnt been recalled and the saftety standards havent changed. We bought a graco snugride for our baby and my brother in law gave us their carseat base so we could have a base in both of our cars. They used the exact same seat as us and they had their baby 3 years ago.

I would (with the same caveats as others mentioned above!)

I have used our infant seat three times but once they went forward facing they have their own. They are all still in car seats. Our print is a bit boyish and now my daughter is using it but I didn't really care. I didn't want to pay more just to get a girly one when we had one that was just fine. She will use it for a year and then change to her britax
