We actually keep a throw blanket on our couch that we can just throw in the wash. It's much easier to do that than do a deep vacuuming each week. We still vacuum it once a week, but it's just a quick once over the areas that the blanket doesn't cover.

We have a leather couch, so I normally just wipe it down maybe once a month. Luckily the fur never stays on the couch.

My gut response was "not often enough". He is such a hairy dog, we could never hope to keep up. We're getting our Sheltie mix a de-shedding grooming (they work on thoroughly combing out his undercoat) when we drop him off at doggie daycare as soon as its baby-time. Hopefully it will help a little when we bring the LO home.
DH and I joke about how long it will take before this kid is covered in dog hair.

This is exactly why we have a leather couch in our family room. We do have upholstered couches in our living room and i keep junk on them to stop him from getting on them so I don't have to clean them.

When we only had upholstered couches, I vacuumed once a week. But that was before babies. I can't imagine having the time to do that now if we still used those couches for daily sitting. I barely have time to vacuum the floor as it is.

Not enough. And our dog totally digs blankets off of things to make better pillows for himself!

We do have a duvet on the bed over our good quilt that is specifically there to trap puppy hair, though. When we need to put something on the bed, we pick the corner up and the quilt below is clean. It is a good idea in the fall and spring, especially!

Not enough. Her fur matches our couch, so I never even see it. I try to get to it once every season, but I haven't lately. Also, the dog digs blankets to make a pillow, so the blanket on the couch never works.

I used to brush my dog like crazy and I'd just use a lint remover on the couch!

We have two cats, and I've got allergies, so.. I vacuum twice a day. Insane, I know LOL

@kjpugs: lol tumble weeds! Thats a great way to describe them.

I also have a floor vac I use that worka wonders on our hard wood floors! Its the bissell power edge. Looks funny but its a life saver.

We have vinyl sofas just for this. I'm about to slip cover them, though, cause they have some scratches, so I'll have to do it a lot, since my golden sheds a lot.

My dog is not allowed on the couch. So I don't vacuum it often, only the front of it where he lays against it on the floor

Judging by the amount of yellow lab hair that is clinging to the back of my yoga pants right now, all the time is a good time to vacuum for me. But let's be real, it happens about twice a month. And I'd like to add, the couch is illegal territory to begin with... So something doesn't add up here... Proof of illegal activity. Lol

No judging. Because it's been well over a month since we've vacuumed ours. And it's nubby brown fabric that attracts and hangs onto EVERYTHING. It's so gross. I really want to invest in a couple of nice blankets to put on there because seriously vacuuming that sectional with any frequency is such a pain. Plus I feel like at this point, once I vacuum up the hair it's still going to stink like dog.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I've been thinking about getting some kind of cover for our couch, too, when we don't have guests. It attracts cat hair so badly, plus our cats have totally destroyed one leg by scratching it (which really depresses me because our couch is only a few months old, ugh). I'm wondering if a thicker fabric covering would help protect against at least some of the scratches!
