We had 2 play dates this week! Was too lazy to prepare food so I had food delivered.

We do but I noticed it makes some people uncomfortable... so now we tailor snacks/foods to our guests! Sometimes we bust out snacks and sometimes we don't!!

@mrbee: Mm. I'll probably have to tailor to our guests as the kids get older too. Korean style is all about stuffing food in people's faces though. Haha.

Depends on the time and who it is. I rarely have play dates at our house though because we have a big dog and some kids are scared of her.
At play dates I've been to some serve snacks to just the kids and today one served us lunch, and we made cookies.

We rarely have play dates, but I always try to make sure we have snacks.

@Mrsbells: Maybe because then they feel like they need to reciprocate when we visit them?
It's just a cultural thing for us to feed our guests... but if someone doesn't seem comfortable with it, we don't do it!

Yup, always. It feels wrong to have guests and not serve them anything.

I always have food (depends on time of day as to what) and people reciprocate. I also think it is rude not to have anything available. You never know if people might be hungry, especially little kids!

We had our first play date this week and I ordered some snacks and sweets from our neighborhood bakery/cafe, placed them on our counter and encouraged our guests to snack if they were hungry. No pressure and the emphasis was on our LOs and it turned out great.

I always put out way too much!
@sylvie_b: I want to come to a playdate at your house!

I always have something for guests whether it be a play date or other gathering. I make a pretty healthy banana bread that has minimal added sugar. Kids and parents love it.

My play dates at home are with my best friends who have kids. We used to do snacks in the beginning when we were still getting to know each other, but now we all just help ourselves if we are hungry no matter who's house it is. Whoever is hosting usually feeds all the kids.

We always have food. If it's a larger group, someone always offers to do pot-luck style, which is always nice, too.

I've always grown up with feeding people who come into my home. EEEAAAT! IS GOOD, EAT!

Yes but moms bring food too. The play dates I usually have are through my moms group so it can be anywhere from 10-30 kids plus their moms. Usually everyone brings a lunch and I have snacks, water and juice.
