...are you worried about "the big one?" (earthquake?)
All these earthquakes are making me nervous, and I don't even live remotely close to CA! (Florida, haha.)
I think I would need to be medicated if I lived there right now with how it all went down this weekend.
What are you Californians thinking?

I don't live in CA anymore, but did until I was out of college. I was never scared of or worried about earthquakes. They are just a part of life. You can't anticipate them, so you just go with the flow. (And, yes, I have been through a "big" one. It was devastating in a lot of ways, but you rebuild and get through.) I personally find hurricanes much scarier.

I'm in SoCal but didn't feel any. They don't scare me that much either. 1) small ones release tension which can prevent a big one. 2) there are very strict building codes so I feel safe up to a really huge one. I haven't felt one since LO was born though. That would definitely change things.

@septca: @Mrs Green Grass: those are great points!!!! Especially the building codes- I do remember reading about that. That's why earthquakes along the fault that's around St Louis would be so devastating- no preparedness.
I think why earthquakes scare me so much is that with hurricanes, at least you know it's coming. (And inland here we don't deal with them as much anyway.) Earthquakes you get pretty much zero warning! That seems so terrifying to me.

We had an earthquake in Maryland a few years ago and it scared the bejesus out of me! Some of the older houses in the city crumbled. I guess you get used to them if you have them somewhat frequently?

lol I don't live in CA but I agree with you that I'd be a little freaked out! Although I imagine you just don't think much about it because there is nothing you can do! My brother and I were talking about this recently though--- Ohio is kind of a great place to live natural disaster wise. No hurricanes, no big earthquakes (we get tiny ones from fracking but I've never felt one), very few tornados, no forest fires, no landslides. I should knock wood or something but I'm glad we don't have those things to worry about hah
