Just wondering if I should put both the infant car seat and a convertible car seat on my registry.
ETA: Right now, I do not have convertible car seats on my registry.

I didn't - we used the infant bucket for right about a year so a convertible would have just sat around in storage all that time.

I didn't. I was overwhelmed with all the convertible options anyway and probably wouldn't have picked the one we ended up getting. Plus like @yoursilverlining: we used the infant seat for a year and had no place to store the convertible. Newer ones come out all the time and the two I would pick now didn't even exist when C was born.

I didn't and I wish I would have. DS1 was in a convertible at 5 months and we switched DS2 at about 2 months. Both my kids are heavy so lugging that infant seat sucked!

i also did not. i also didn't know how soon i would be using it though, which was soon: she grew out of her small seat at 8 months because she was tall.

I didn't and we bought them ourselves, when Ds was 7/8 months

I did. I was surprised it was purchased. Some people will surprise you with their generosity. It worked out great because when we switched DS around 7-8 months we only had to spend money on one convertible for DHs truck!

I didn't, but I wish I had added one at the last minute after my showers so that I could use the completion discount!

I didn't but I wish I did. You'll definitely need at least 1 in the future - maybe within the first year if you plan on driving a lot with LO. It's not something to buy used and they can get to be expensive.

I wouldn't because it would expire sooner, I wouldn't want to store it, and I might change my mind about which to get. We used our infant seat for a year, but next time I might switch sooner.

I did, but it wasn't purchased. Sucked shelling out for 2 seats when it was time to switch!

We purchased our own seats (intended to use convertible from birth then changed our minds last minute), but I wouldn't register just because you could loose a year or more off the expiration date...
For example our first outgrew the infant seat by 8 mo. We used the same seat for our second and she can still fit in it at 19 mo. Had a convertible seat been purchased for her during pregnancy we would have lost over 2 years off the expiration date (we did switch her around 14 mo to a convertible but she still uses the infant seat as our extra seat). Our infant seat is also one with a much smaller weight and height limit compared to the one you are registering for, so we would have gotten even more use out of yours. Now that she is older we just leave the seat installed in it's base in the car and use it like a convertible.

If you do, return it and rebuy when you're ready to use it. The expiration dates are getting longer but you may as well get maximum use out of it. It's silly to lose a year's worth of usefulness on such an expensive item!

No, we ended up using our infant car seat for almost 18 months w/ DD1 (she was tiny) and then just bought a convertible when we finally needed it. Regulations can change between when you have the baby and when you need it, so we thought it was better to wait.

We registered for both. Got the infant seat and an extra base but no one has purchased the convertible. My mom is going to get it for us.

Register for everything! You never know what people with gift and if nothing else you can use the registry completion discount later to buy them.

I did, in part because we needed more items on our registry. We will need 2, and we received 1. At 9 months, we are just now switching to a convertible. We had the storage space, so it wasn't a big issue, and the generous person who gifted it to us has saved us a lot of money!

I didn't register for either seat and ended up buying both. It was worth it for us because then we could get exactly what we wanted. Plus, Nissan puts out lists of which seats fit in their vehicles, so that helped us out when it came time to choose.

We did not. I wasn't sure what we would want and I didn't want to lose a year of use off the expiration date. We were in our KeyFit 30 until about 14 months. We had no place to store Convertibles in our condo.
