Hardly ever, but I voted sometimes because there are times people will call me for help on an after hours issue.

Very rarely. Sometimes I need to edit something on a deadline and I'll bring it home, but that doesn't happen often.

@meganmp: Me too. There are not enough hours in the day to get everything done!

Never. I work in health care so it would involve bringing home patient information. Most of my stuff is one the computer that requires an encrypted network. I'm really glad though, I am at work enough, when I'm at home it's my time

I voted never, because things are so confidential at my work that no files ever leave the office.
But I've been emotionally bringing work home lately. Stinks!

I answered sometimes but I really should be working from home every night.

Nope - one of the great things about ICU nursing. My day is over when I walk out the door.

@mrs. 64: I believe that is the definition of graduate school So, yes.

Very rarely, and when I do it's usually if I had to take time off during the day and want to make up the hours, or if I'm planning to work from home the next day.

@jhd: It's a learning curve but it's going well! I am in an alternative public school setting so all of my nuggets are ED, have mood disorders, anger issues, etc. They are far needier (and more frustrating!) than the students I'm used to through student teaching in comprehensive schools. I do like it though. I'm exhausted by the time I leave, and I do more management than actual teaching, but I'm slowly learning what makes each kid tick. It's going to be an interesting year for sure!
Thanks for asking! I hope your year is going well!

Unless its email or work I can do from my cell phone then no.

I'm a software engineer and I NEVER work from home! The only thing I MIGHT do is check my e-mail, but that's only if I'm out for the day (like sick) or gone for an extended period of time (I checked my e-mail once a week while on maternity leave).

Sometimes, but I also work-from-home on other days too. My schedule is very flexible so I can work at work or at home.

@rahlyrah: It does take a lot of time & energy, but good for you for taking the time to get to know those kids and help them. I have a brother with special needs and he never would have made it without his awesome teachers! I hope your school year continues to go well!

sometimes! i'm in a new job which is much better so in the few months I've been here I think I've only had to bring work home once or twice... in my old job, much higher stress, I brought work home most nights and most weekends... boo.

I'm on call overnight on Weds so I inevitably end up doing at least a few ours of work.

Another teacher here, so yep. And on the off chance I don't have anything to do, I'm helping DH (he's a 3rd grade teacher).

I try not to. I try to keep work at my office as much as possible. I sometimes work late at the office, but I don't often bring work home (besides personal projects).

I'm trying to be better about this. If I do bring it home, I don't touch it until the girls are asleep.

i used to. but my new job doesn't allow us to take files home. and now that i have a LO, i really have no intention to work at home. i'm sad enough that i am going to be away from my baby all day!

I'm much better about bringing work home than I used to me. Although, if I spend too much time on helle bee during the work day I get punished with working over the weekend.

Not yet. I'm a military nurse, and still very junior so my responsibilities don't go beyond patient care and a couple minor collateral duties.

@babynumber1: same!!
I'm in healthcare so there is no way to bring work home. I think it would be against HIPAA laws for me to be able to access patient records at home...

Echoing the rest of the teachers. I don't think there's any way not to!

I do way more than I'd like to. The upside is now that I'm part-time, I'm paid by the hour and can work at home so long as I get my contact hours I with my students (I'm a speech therapist). Getting paid makes it so much easier. I hated bringing my work home with me when I worked full time for a school district but doing paperwork on my own time was the only way I ever got it done since I was so impacted with students.

Woohoo, so many teachers on HB! In previous years I probably worked 30 hours/wk at home. This year I'm going (to try) to bring as little work home as possible. HA!
