LO is 11 1/2 months and still wakes to eat at night. For a few months she slept through the night, but then she got sick, had a regression, etc. Lately she wakes 2-3 times and takes either 2 ounces of formula or water.
If your LO weaned off of formula at 1 year, what did you do for night wake ups? She won't just take a paci.

At our one year appointment I let our doc know LO was still nursing once a night and he told us he wasn't surprised at all because she's so little (15th percentile) and so busy running around constantly and burning tons of calories. He said its simply not reasonable to expect her to go 12 hours without eating and we should just keep doing what were doing.

My LO is 16 months, in the 90% percentile, and still wakes 2-3 times a night to nurse. So I have no idea what to tell you, but I'm subscribing

Lo is 13.5 months a woke to eat once until last week. I had to nurse him, nothing else would settle him down (not necessarily bc he was hungry I think he jut likes the comfort of nursing). If shell take water I would probably just do that.

Subcribing. DD STTN for months until the 9 month regression hit and now she wakes up 1-2x every night. She's 11.5 months. Not sure what we're gonna do when I stop breastfeeding.

@MaisyMay: Have you ever/would you consider sleep training? Does she eat/drink enough during the day? After 1, I think it's safe to say that kids don't (or shouldn't) NEED to eat at night, so I think it's up to you how hard you want to push it.

Miss A still wakes in the night, sometimes it's for comfort and she settles again when I get in to bed with her other times it's to eat so I nurse her then sleep with her. We are making progress though as she has STTN recently

DD loves water! I tried to substitute water for milk one night and she ended up waking up less than an hour later still hungry. I gave her more water and she ended up throwing it up
I've tried sleeping training but I really think she is genuinely hungry. She polishes off 5 oz and then falls right back to sleep. DH says it makes sense because I'm pretty much always hungry so perhaps she inherited my metabolism.

@hilsy85: Our issue w/ sleep training is that we are in a 1 bedroom apartment, our bedroom shares a wall with another apartment's bedroom, and DH and I keep very different sleep hours. We've made some recent changes so that she's more comfortable in her crib and sleeps there, and that has reduced the number of wake ups (it was 4+), and we've taken to giving her 2 ounces of formula alternated w/ 2 ounces of water as opposed to the 2-4 ounces of formula she used to get. We're trying to wean her down, but it's not easy.

@MaisyMay: gotcha. Well, FWIW I know people who have sleep trained with the baby in the room (I think one of the bloggers talked about it? The No-Cry Sleep solution discusses it too) but that definitely makes it tougher! Hopefully she just drops them on her own soon!
My main concern with feeding my LO in the MOTN was 1) having him then go back to sleep w/o brushing (probably not really a big deal) and 2) getting him used to eating some of his calories at night, which I really didn't want! But it's a tough thing to change!

@hilsy85: We've discussed those concerns and agreed with them. The night calories is one of the reasons we've been reducing the amounts that she gets during the night.
