yes they always did/do!! It would bother me if they didn't try to console her

I would hand her to the teacher next time - force her to hold her

My 5 yr old still has rough drop offs and I will say to the teacher "can you grab him?" I don't expect her to pick up a 5 yr old but yes I expect her to distract him and move him away from the door

They don't pick him up unless he's sobbing uncontrollably, but they always distract him with a toy or by talking to him.

My Lo freaks out and sobs almost daily. They definitely pick her up right away if they can. Occasionally they are busy changing another baby or something and go to her right away... though usually I wait to leave until someone is available and then I hand her to that person. Usually they comfort her and tell her I'll be back, try to distract her, etc. Sometimes if her favorite teacher holds her before I leave, she won't even cry (esp. if it's later in the week, after she's used to going for a few days in a row).

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for them to comfort her, especially if it makes things easier for you.

Can you give a snack at drop off? That also seems to help my LO. My husband dropped her off this morning before breakfast and he said she didn't cry when he left because she was busy eating.

That would break my heart!! There is no way I could just leave my kid crying on the floor all alone. It's one thing it she's crying in the daycare lady's arms, because she's having some human interaction. But all alone?! So sad
