Ya, usually within 30 minutes of going to bed. LO 2 is almost 11 months and she doesn't always want to nurse before bedtime...depends on her solid intake at dinner.

@autumnlove: I'm curious if this is the reason Xander doesn't usually sleep 12 hours. He'll go 11 usually, but very rarely 12. But we don't nurse/give milk before bed. He usually has dinner about an hour (or an 1.5 hours) before bed!

Yeah, we kept the nighttime bottle for a little while. But also, I think we were blessed with a good night time sleeper (after sleep training at 5 months)

@Adira: I have to nurse at bedtime when I find a lot of food in the high chair....BLW is hit or miss for us!

well R rarely sleeps 12 hours but can, and we did a bottle within 30 mins of bedtime.

@autumnlove: I can definitely see that! I kind of wish we did BLW (even if it meant nursing more) because Xander's 12 months and STILL only eating purees!

@Smurfette: haha, so you're saying it's not a guarantee anyway!
Though R is one of those babies that just doesn't like to sleep, so we can't judge anything by her.

@Adira: She is doing 11 hours lately, so that is something at least.

@Smurfette: 11 is pretty good! I always figure when Xander's gotten 11, it's probably as good as it's going to get. Rarely will he go back to sleep after that.

@Adira: Whoops, I read your thread title wrong! LO 2 doesn't sleep 12 hours consistently yet....maybe only 1-2 a week. She usually sleeps 11 hours.
LO 1 was sleeping 12 hours and she usually nursed or drank a bottle before bedtime!

Same as @Smurfette: We have nursed (and now given bottle) right at bedtime since birth. D is 14 months. He rarely actually sleeps 12 hours, but he certainly can do it. I think he just doesn't need 12 hours on a regular basis.

D basically sleeps 12 hours every night. We always give milk before bed. These days he probably drinks 2-3 ounces.

@Adira: YES, My LO still needs to feel that super full, "milk drunk" state as he drifts off to bed. Also, he gets so tired at dinner that he barely eats, so giving milk at bedtime (usually he drinks it as he lays down and let's me change his diaper and out his PJs on), is the only way to ensure he gets all his nutrients.
Eta: he sttn 12h at about 12w old consistently.

Well she nursed before bed until around 10 months at which point she started refusing it and I stopped offering. She sleeps 11-12 hours sometimes even 10 but always with no nightwakings. I think some babies just don't do 12 hrs to be honest.

I I think 11 hours is pretty normal, especially if they're still on two naps. My LO only sleeps 12 hours if she's sick.

Yep right before bed. But she never fell asleep while eating (past the first few months).

So, interestingly enough, DD only started STTN (12 hours) when we *stopped* feeding at bedtime. We tried to give her 20-30 minutes between nursing and starting her bedtime routine so that she would learn to disassociate nursing and falling asleep - only once we moved her last feed up about 30 minutes was she able to go back to sleep in the MOTN without nursing.

Yes, I always nurse him, hold him for 10 minutes, then put him down. He rarely falls asleep at the boob though unless he's extremely exhausted. I did the same with my daughter.

Yes, milk before bed up until 15 months. Then just some water.

My LO started STTN around 4 months. We stopped giving him a night time bottle around 10 or 11 months because he was eating solids. We only give milk at meals.

my baby only STTN 10-11 hours by 12 months--since it's close, though, i'll throw in my experience which was that we nursed within 30 minutes of bedtime.

I nursed DD before bed until around a year and then she got a bottle before bed until 13 months.

@Adira: we do nurse before bed but Baby Brother has always only slept 11 hours at night. I think that's just his thing.

LO sleeps 6:30 - 6:15 and gets a bottle just before bed time and this is what scares me most about weaning!!

I voted yes although the 12 hour sleeping through probably wasn't until really late like almost 12 months.
