If your LO goes to school in rain or snow boots...do you send other shoes for them to change into? It seems impractical (and messy) for DD1 to clamp around her classroom in boots all day. They do normally wear their outdoor shoes in the classroom. Curious about what others do!

I specifically got boots for my son that he could wear indoors and outdoors:

My son's class goes outside for an hour each day unless it's down pouring, so I prefer him to be in shoes that are waterproof.

@looch: we have boots I would consider him able to wear inside (bog boots, they're super comfy for him), I just feel like any kind of shoe above the ankle is not so comfy for sitting and crawling around on the floor, etc. but good point about outdoor play, I will have to ask his teachers if they go outside every day in the winter.

If there's snow on the ground we carry her to the car. If there is snow play they let us know and we bring boots in.

Yes, we bring a change of shoes. Their schools don't like kids trekking in the grime from rain/snow into their classrooms. I'm happy to help keep their rooms clean especially since little kids still sit on the floor all the time.

Kids/teachers do not wear outdoor shoes in the daycare. There is a coat room area where everyone changes into slippers or indoor shoes when they arrive. No shoes inside (private homes/indoor play places) is a big thing here though.

@looch: I *think* they go to the indoor playground in the winter (rather than outside), but I'm not sure - like @hilsy85:, I will have to ask the teachers as it gets colder.
@lamariniere: my previous preschool/playgroup experiences have all been outside the US, and it was standard to leave "school shoes" at school and change in the entryway. I asked about it here and got funny looks
@Andrea: Totally agree on the grime and muck. I'm used to not wearing shoes inside schools/homes, so would be more than happy to just leave a pair of shoes at school! DD is 3 so if they're slip ons, she can make the change herself anyway without prolonging drop off or causing any extra work for the teacher.
