Can't find anything on naturpedics website; we have their 2 sided mattress. It's hard as a rock and now that LO is older - 8 months - and extremely mobile it seems safe to flip to the slightly softer infant side? Right?

I was in search of a softer mattress and discovered the 2 sided ones when L was 8 months and so bought one then and used the "toddler" side right away. His sleep drastically improved! We had a crap hand me down, hard coil plastic mattress before.
However the "recommendations" are typically to flip at one year.

@scg00387: i do have a quilted cotton one. it fits like a fitted sheet so i really like it. i haven't heard anything about wool ones - are they supposed to be better?

Totally forgot about this! But I didn't notice a huge difference between the two sides on ours. I'll have to flip and see what happens! Kids are 12.5 mo now so should be ok!

Ok.. so two days after I flipped it to the softer side, LO started STTN for the first time in his entire life and has kept it up! I bought a soft mattress for his PNP and this weekend while we traveled he still did!!! I guess it could be a coincidence but... whoa. Worth a shot!

@scg00387: I don't think it's a coincidence! I got on board with the softer mattress idea after a good friend told me how her terrible sleeper baby slept 10 hours straight the first night on a softer mattress! I'm all for safety recommendations but babies are still human and need to be comfortable as well
Eta: how old is your LO?
Eta2: my LO went down from 3-5 wake ups to 0-1 as soon as we got a softer mattress! Teething, vacation and getting sick screwed it up for a few weeks but this week he is STTN again with just one wake up to nurse

@PurpleUnicorn: He is 9 months so it didn't really stress me to be honest. I wish I'd tried earlier!

I can't remember when, but it was well after she turned a year old. Maybe 14-16 months??
