When are you opening gifts with your SO and/or LO? We're going OOT for the holidays and I'm thinking we should open gifts beforehand but DH had mine shipped to his parents so I we do that, I won't open anything with them because DH's and LO's gifts are at home. Should we wait until after Christmas to open them all together?
When are you traveling bees opening gifts? Are you opening them as a family?

DH and I don't exchange gifts, but we're doing a little bit of both for LO. She's only 19 months, so she doesn't really care either way. We've already let her open a few (ie, we just gave her a new toy not wrapped) and we'll set up her play kitchen after Christmas when we get home.

We will exchange gifts at our destination, but I'm leaving some bigger parts here (like I got a little over the door basketball hoop, I'm leaving the hoop here, but will bring the mini basketball so he has something open). We aren't getting anything for LO (what?! She's 4.5 months and has no idea and we gave our families all our ideas!) but our family will bring her gifts there I guess. We aren't spending Christmas with my side so my parents are just having her gift shipped here.

We are going to open them the morning of the 27th. We are coming home sometime on the 26th but it will be in the evening. We're going to treat the 27th like Christmas morning.

We do our main gifts for each other at home (maybe this Saturday this year) and just do her stocking from us at my moms on Xmas day. LO gets so many other gifts there anyway! I like having gifts with DH be special time for just our little family. Also this year LO is getting a kitchen which clearly had to stay home!

We are doing it the morning of the 23rd. We leave that afternoon to head to our parents town about 3 hours away.

We're leaving the 23rd and coming back the 30th. I think, since LO is only 7 months, we'll just bump Christmas to New Year's this year.

We'll be home for Christmas day this year, but have traveled in the past from the time I was about 8 till now at 30. It's pretty common in our family to open up a picture of the intended item. So, all our gifts would be like, wrapped up in boxes the size of a jewelery item and inside would be a photo of your BBQ or whatever.

We're bringing them with us, but we're driving to my parents and they have a lot of stuff there for LO, so we don't need to bring much. Also, LOs bday was 2 weeks ago, so we made sure we gave her the bigger gifts then and have smaller ones to bring with us.

We shipped the gifts from us to my parents'. When I was an expat kid, we used to come back to the States for Christmas and Santa always came to our house while we were gone. We sent/brought the family gifts to open there.

We always do "our Christmas" the day we leave for my parents place (we leave late). We just pretend it is Christmas day, I make a big breakfast, we open all our gifts, and spend the whole day watching Christmas movies together. Then that evening we pack up and head out to my family's house for Christmas. I just feel weird exchanging our gifts in front of my family, and I think I'd also miss not having that time just between us. But I don't know what we'll do next year when we have a LO. Part of me would like to carry on the tradition, and part of me wants my LO to open our gifts ON Christmas.

For the most part we'll open them on Christmas morning with my family. But Hubs' big gift this year was a grill and I couldn't exactly check that under the plane so I already gave it to him.

Christmas Eve morning we will wake up and pretend it’s Christmas and open gifts with LO. Then we’ll go up to my parent’s house and have Christmas #2 with them, and have Christmas dinner.
Christmas day we fly to San Diego and have Christmas #3 with MIL.
Weekend after, we fly to NC and have Christmas #4 / 3 Kings Day with FIL.
I’m tired already.
