I never really gave it much thought! As of now, I only have a DD so she would get it.

My son will inherit all of our stuff (not that there is a ton of it).

I understand though, where you are coming from, if you have more than one child. When they are old enough, have you considered letting them each choose one thing until there are no more things left? It's hard to measure what's important to one person, YKWIM?

I will give my rings to mthe child who shows the most interest in them. Hopefully DH will give me something else with sentimental value I can pass down to the other(s).

I have actually never understood giving it to your child to use as an e-ring-- I plan to still be wearing my rings when my kids get married so I don't know how that works.

I really don't have enough nice jewelry to worry about it at this point. The few nice things I have they could just split up themselves I guess.

I think about this too!!! I also have only one daughter as of right now. If she is my only daughter she will get the ring. I want it to be worn by a woman who is related to me, so I would not give it to a son or grandson to give to his wife. If I have another daughter I would have to see if one of them had more interest in it than the other one to pass it on when I die. OR... I may give it to the fiance of a granddaughter to propose to her with while I'm still alive.

I have my grandmother's engagement ring. It was passed on to my aunt and she never married or had children so when I turned 21 she gave it to me. ETA: I don't wear it as my engagement ring, I have my own.

If I have a daughter, it will either go to her, or if I have a grand daughter maybe her instead. My engagement ring was actually my grandmother's. When she found out we were looking at rings she offered it to me. And years ago when my mom was first married she wore *her* grandmother's ring. So it might be a nice tradition to hold up.

Right now I'm pregnant with a boy, so unless I have all boys I doubt he'll get it. I kinda feel like boys would appreciate the sentiment as much, and neither would his future wife. But while my ring may not be the biggest or flashiest, I'm very close to my grandma and I love having the ring she wore for 50 years.

I think about this too. I have my Grandmothers engagement ring. She passed away when I was 12 and my Grandfather gave it to me when I turned 18. My mom held on to it unitl I got engaged to DH. I was my Grandmothers first grandchild and we were very very close. Hopefully I will live a long happy life and my ring will go to a Grandchild. I wouldn't want to give up my rings while I was still living and I think I'd like to be buried with my wedding band.

@Rachiecakes: My mom always told me that too about the funeral home/undertakers! weird but it always stayed with me!

My ering was DH's great grandma's. It was passed down to his grandma, and then to his mom, who was wearing it right before she gave it to DH to give to me.

The only other diamond that I will eventually get is my mom's. She has a family diamond that my sister has dibs on, so I get the ring my dad got her for their 17th anniversary when he could finally afford to get her a nice ring.

My mom says that she's not giving up her rings until she dies.... but I hope that if one of her grandchildren wants it she will change her mind. My hopes is that LO will pick which ring she wants for when she gets engaged, and LO #2 will get the other ring.

I'm fine with giving my ring away when I'm still alive. My MIL did it for me so I feel like it's only supposed to be mine until my LO needs it. And I'd love to see it get passed on, and see it on LO's finger when she gets married

I think I would treat it like any other valuable and give it to a child and give the other children something else of equal monetary value?
I have a lot of gold and I have other diamonds, so I would split them up I guess. And then there is their dad's wedding band.
I want 4 kids so many if only one if a girl, she'll just get it.
