We've been looking for a new couch. We've checked out local stores and just can't find what we like.. It has to be leggy and small so that it works well with the limited space in our living room... I just went to the Ikea website and found some that are what we are looking for but I'm nervous to purchase from there because I wouldn't get to see it in person first. Have you purchased anything from Ikea?

We have the Ikea Antilop high chair and LOVE IT!!!! I recommend it to all my friends.

I ADORE IKEA. Seriously, there are very few things there that aren't awesome. With the exception of a few cheap things, I've never seen anything there that is poor quality. I really like their couches, especially the sectionals.

We love the Expedit bookcase and the Hemnes wide dresser which are both in LM's nursery. We also have the Hemnes side table which we use for nightstands and have held up really well!

I love Ikea, though I haven't gotten a couch there. We've stuck mostly to dressers and shelves and small tables and such, and have loved all those things.
I do think with upholstered pieces at Ikea, you tend to get what you pay for ... so check online to see if there are reviews if you have a particular piece in mind.

Most of our furniture, EXCEPT for couches and our master bedroom set, is from Ikea. If I could go back and change my mind I'd have done the bedroom set from Ikea as well, now knowing how awesome our guest bedroom set is.
We've never done couches from Ikea but they are lovely in the store... we are always trying them out. We purchase couches from Bob's Discount Furniture because they are actually cheaper and they have more traditional styles.

I like most of the stuff I bought at Ikea. I bought some shelves, corner desk, TV unit, a bed frame and an end table that is used to hold our printer. Speaking of which, I need to make a trip there this weekend.

My sister has a couch from there. It's red, very cute, and has lasted her a long time. I think 7 years so far and it's still in good shape.
I haven't bought too much, just a rug and some little things. I like everything we got though. If it weren't so overwhelming I'd go more often.

I like Ikea, but I hate having to assemble everything.
We got a beautiful sectional from Ashley for $799 on sale!!! It's big, comfy, and soft! (cordoroy microfiber) -
We have the Expedit cubbies, Billy bookcases, Besta TV stand, and most used/loved - our kitchen cabinets! We just gutted our kitchen and all of the cabinets are Ikea. Very time-consuming to put together, but they're surprisingly sturdy and functional!

We have a couch from ikea (the karlstad). We got it when we were living in asia thinking that we'd just get rid of it when we moved back. But we kept it and it's been through several moves and is still holding up well.

Love! No couches, but we have Expedit and attached desk (sitting at it right now) and Billy and another cabinet I can't remember its name, along with a ton of accessories.
My husband hates going there, so I usually scout out what I want beforehand and then we go to the warehouse and pick it up if its too big for me to take home. I love putting the furniture together!
@bluestriped bee: Hmmm... me too, I think I need another Ikea trip!

We bought our Kivik couch/chaise set from Ikea and get compliments on it all the time! Our friends couldn't believe it's from Ikea. It's got memory foam seat cushions and I fall asleep on it almost every night before bed. We have the couch with chaise as one piece, and just the couch as the second piece. Plenty if seating for guests and only $1300 for everything including the microfiber covers and tax. Love!

I hate IKEA...because the most of the stuff needs to be put together and it takes two people, which involves my husband and I arguing.
The stuff also doesn't "move" well. If you're buying something to leave in one place, great, but if you have to move it to a new home, it's always wonky, even with professional movers.

@looch: I agree, the stuff does not move well. It's also frustrating because you have to buy any parts from IKEA since home depot stuff is all english measurements not metric.
I find IKEA overpriced, but it usually looks decent. I prefer to wait for sales and get stuff at nice places. That or used.*But I actually LOVE putting stuff together myself/with my husband

@looch: I'm with you.... I find the stuff is okay, but it just doesn't stand the test of time. Once it's in place, that's it. No taking it apart to move or just moving it in one piece. That being said, we do have a few small ikea pieces in the house (Lak end tables as night stands and a coat tree) but I'd never invest in a room from Ikea. I feel like you get what you pay for.

@pastemoo: @prettylizy: Thank goodness I am not the only one! I feel like I have a disproportionate hatred of IKEA...partly because I had a breakdown in there by the beds once and partly because a lot of our furniture is IKEA that used to be in my husband's apartment. It's all fine, but it's not heirloom quality by any means.

@looch: LOL. My husband HATES IKEA because it's too crowded "like Walmart." AHAHhahhahahahah.
But I do like their little stuff--just got some baby-saferizer corners for sharp tables. Very cute.

@pastemoo: we have those too, they look like little hands, so cute, but they do come off easily.
